The class ability Bloodbond which allows the Seeker to shift as a minor action when not wearing heavy armor is AWESOME.

Does anyone have the quote from Mearls which stated that if kobolds ever became a PC-race, shifty (shift as a minor) would have to be changed because it was too powerful?

That was before we got a low-HP class that, if flanked, can barely do anything without provoking an OA. Notice all those "Ranged weapon" and "Area burst 1 within weapon range" powers. At least the Wizard gets some Close bursts.

Perhaps. It's not because I want to rub it in his face I am asking for the quote (i am a big fan of mearls), but I would however love to hear his arguments for why it is okay now. Might be the OA, or it might be otherwise. Either way, having both quotes would be helpful, nothing else.

Its probably because the ability is worse in combination with certain classes, and if you get it from a class that isn't one of those danger classes, its not that big of a deal.

As for the Seeker as a whole, I find it a little obnoxious to try to learn a class from the Compendium. The information just isn't presented in an easily read format. Still, its cheaper than buying the Compendium and a bunch of books.

So for the 7 levels I actually reviewed, it looks fairly cool. I still feel like some of the newer classes need a little more in the way of flavor text to really get the idea across. Its easy to get the idea of a class from a big bucket of powers if the idea for a class is something we're already familiar with- like the assassin. But its harder with this sort of thing.

Flavor text for the non-standard classes is definitely good. While many don't like the Invoker mechanics, I think they did a good job flavoring them well. We'll see on this guy!

Still waiting for the article - it's making me CRAZY!

Jack99: I wonder if the distinction is that as a racial power it's unbalanced to other racial powers, but they feel it's balanced well with other class powers for The Seeker. It seems pretty crazy... but compared to some of the quick utilities your Ranger can get, that may be the balance. It gets a generic quickmove for that build, but loses out on some of the higher utilities that provide the Ranger with some crazy move options.

YEAH for the awesome seeker (just made a lvl 30 one for fun) and YEAH for the new inheritance-bonus option (no need for +x items anymore).

Seeker PDF is up.

Jack99: SRM makes note of the Kobold-envy in the article - doesn't answer your question, but clearly states it was an inspiration for the Bloodbond.
