Darn, I thought my hacking skills finally paid off and I bypassed the ban. Looks like I need to finish reading my Hacking for Dummies book after all.

Bans are forever. If you're still posting here, you weren't banned. You were suspended.

"Suspended" sounds like I'm back in elementary school. I prefer calling it a 3 day "ban"....I think it still fits. If it was forever, I think saying you were "banished" is a lot cooler. It might even be cool if you could tell people at Gen Con that you were 'banished from the world of EN".

Maybe. But it could also be short for, uh, nothing, since "to ban" means "to prohibit, censure, or express disapproval, especially by figures of authority."

It is also an announcement of engagement, as in "To post bans". I know it is an archaic useage, but I was surprised to be unable to find a link to the custom using google.

There is also the King Ban ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ban_(mythology) ) if you are a royal pain in the moderator!
