Masumi is sitting next to Grryth near the back of the car in the window seat. "What's that?!" she says in wonder as she runs over to the windows near where the sounds are coming from, expecting to see something along the lines of a flying water ski.

[sblock=Extrapolation...]So, since we know where Gurdan is, we can do a decent job of placing nearly everyone else.

This whole "Gurdan's in the far front while Grryth is in the far back" thing just isn't going to work out, I'm afraid. Lo-Kag, Massumi, Gurdan, and Grryth must be fairly close together, since they've been conversing and shaking hands easily enough. Masumi and Grryth are probably adjacent, or across the aisle from each other. You wouldn't have a conversation with someone more than ten feet from you without one party moving closer when it would be so easy to like it is here, since most of the seats are empty, which, by the way, does not say good things for the lightning rail. If Gurdan is in row L, then Masumi and Grryth are probably in rows M, or N, and Lo-Kag is probably in O, P, or Q (Lo-Kag can carry on conversations from farther away because of his loud and abrasive manner). However, the farther back Lo-Kag is, the closer he's going to end up to Alexia, despite her attempts to get away from him.

Lo-Kag is sitting next to an NPC who is probably not Gurdis, given the way he's been treating his neighbor. However, if there is only one person per row per side, then this goes out the window. Luckily, there's a good chance the NPC has excused himself in the desire to not sit next to the shouty Lo-Kag.

Otakkun hasn't posted in like a week or something, so who knows where he is.

Also, if these are exclusively forward-facing seats, then everything would have worked much better if Gurdan was in the far back, and everyone else was in front of him. Whoever blocked this scene clearly wasn't thinking ahead.

This is my long way of saying that Alexia is as far away from Lo-Kag and the rest of the group as is possible, which at this point is looking like a different cabin, but will probably end up being S12.

Alternatively, it could be that Gurdan is in the far front and Lo-Kag, Masumi, and Grryth are in the far back, and Alexia is in the middle in row O in an attempt to be equidistant from both parties. She's been playing her music while the other party members shout introductions from across the cabin, and those Brelish folks wonder if any of us have ever been on a train before. However, this is very silly.[/sblock]

[sblock=Character Seating]
As per a previous post I stated that Grryth was sitting at the back of the train car (thus facing the entire car with his back to the wall). Desiree/Masumi came and sat next to him. Not sure where Alexia was, but presumable close enough to take part in the entire conversation. Same with Gurdan. Lo-kag stated that he was moving as far from Alexia as possible. Not sure where Garrick is sitting,as he has been silent through the trip so far. Not sure how that works out as far as your seat letters go Kalidrev, but I will trust you to place Grryth appropriately.

Grryth sits up straight and his hands drop to his axes as Masumi hurries to the window, but can't seem to figure out what it is she is talking about as all he hears is the steady hum of the elemental train.

Lo-Kag is moves to the south end of the cabin in response to Grryth go to a guarded position and Masumi in a state of alarm. He bumps Grryth in the arm and states while nodding his head towards Masumi What's going on with the young...one?" As he talks he puts his hand on the hilt of his weapon, ready to unleash it's fury if necessary.

Surprise Round

[sblock=State of the rail] Actually, the reason the cabin is so empty is because Gurdis bought all of the remaining seats for your trip. She knew that you guys were a rough and tumble kind of group and did not want to hurt her reputation by surrounding you by Sharns' Elit(e/ist) without knowing how to act "properly" around them. The two merchants in the cabin with you bought their tickets before Gurdis got the rail station, so there was nothing she could do about that. Gurdis attempted to buy their tickets from them, but the merchant refused to sit in the "middle class" cabin... he is quickly reconsidering!
[/sblock]

Masumi is the only one to hear the steadily accelerating hush sound and is slightly surprised to see two elemental carts slide into view from the north. It's not so much the cart that Masumi is surprised about, but rather the elemental cannons that are strapped to the front of the carts.

These two carts glide along the left side of the rail and now everyone can see them. Three more of these carts pull up along the right side of the rail. Four of the riders are dirty humans, but something is off about them. Random parts of their bodies seem to be covered in metal...no wait... those body parts ARE metal. One of the riders, you are not shocked to see, is a warforged. Only one thing is odd about the warforged... he seems to be dressed in the hides and furs of animals, most notably that of jungle cats.

You cannot hear what he is shouting at the train, but you can see his laughter as the cannons visibly power on, a dark red orb of power condensing within the barrel. The warforged raises a large greatsword and all of the cannons, on both sides of the rail, fire at the center of your cabin. The energy flows through, splintering wood and singing the floor. Oddly, the energies pass directly through Alexia's body and she is not harmed in the slightest, though she can now feel the moving air from outside as the train speeds along its route. The silencing spell of the cabin has been broken, and now all of the sounds of the rumbling engines can be heard.

"Stupid mortals!" the warforged shouts from his cart. "You will NOT reach Daskaran. Tracker will see to this! Men, take out the train's engine and see if we can't slow these "adventurers" down! We only need to keep them away from the island for another four days! After that it won't matter!"

The cannon's begin to recharge themselves with an audible hum and again the red orb begins to condense within the barrel of the cannons.

The passengers (including Gurdis) scream and run away from the blasted area into the rear cabin.

Initiative rolls

Badguys - 24
Grryth - 21
Alexia - 20
Masumi - 13
Gurdan - 13 (lower dex than Masumi)
Garrick - 10
Lo-Kag - 7 (sorry, bad roll, not that it'll really matter unless you post late).

MASUMI: Because you were the only one to succeed on the perception check, you will get to act in the surprise round. After that, I will post the badguys' actions for round 1 and the rest of you (Masumi included) can post in whatever order you happen to do so after the badguys go.

NOTE: The walls of the train at rows P and Q are blasted away, so movement through the "walls" of these squares is possible on both sides of the rail.

[/sblock]

[sblock=New Rule] Because I want to move this shin-dig along and get to actually rewarding you guys experience, I am adopting a new rule that I have seen other DMs use.

If you do not post within 48 hours of my badguys, I will take control of your character and use one of your At-Will powers (unless you give leave to use encounter and/or daily powers). Please do not let this happen more than once per battle if you can help it. [/sblock]

BOOOOMMM! Lo-Kag falls back from the blast. "What the...!"

Lo-Kag then steadies himself and then quickly surveys the situation as he has many times before when presented with a battle situation. "He we go again boys and girls! Let's do this!"

[sblock=Question]Say, hypothetically, someone were to fall out of the train or off a cart. What happens? I mean, even if there's no fall damage, we're probably moving so quickly that they'll be out of the fight.[/sblock]

Surprise round!
Masumi says, "are those the bad guys?"

Minor action: Masumi places her Warlock's curse on Tracker (if there is an appearance to a curse it is flowery)

Occ:From the arcana check before does Masumi know any easy way to say disable an elemental engine?
