I found the episode to be OK.

Considering there was no real movement in the whole blackout mystery, I had a chance to realize that I pretty much don't care about any of the characters or their stories, especially Aaron and his daughter.

As much as I love the concepts behind much of sci-fi/fantasy TV, its the characters that are going to make or break the show for me. I feel like I'm watching a number of shows this season out of habit rather than interest and, at this point, FlashForward is one of them. Teasers for next week give me some hope.

I caught up with this recently but have to agree. I may just walk away from this for now and watch it later on DVD when I can flashforward through some of the more dramatic subplots and focus on the action and mystery.

(having not yet had a chance to watch the full episode ...)

i agree, sort of. i think for me it will depend on how much time is given to them (beyond this episode, or if something happens in the second half of what i haven't seen to make me change my opinion of them).

I think a part of the issue is the fact that they are secondary characters and it's taken this long to give them spotlight... because up until now they've been in the background without any real audience investment in to them.

Not saying they should have appeared in the spotlight earlier, that's what the main characters are for, just that the moment has passed for picking whose stories to center on...
but yeah, there are lots of interesting types of stories to explore and how lives are affected by this event... but it's going to get too diluted if they try and do it all..

Well, it didn't help that half the story (Aaron/Tracy/Mark) sucked ass. Not to mention they're trying their damndest to make Mark utterly unlikable. Tracy sucks as well. The only things I found realistic were a) the behavior of an alcoholic is not logical (ie, Tracy won't leave but to get booze, Mark will be paranoid about drinking), and b) Aaron losing it and not being Mark's sponsor, because Mark is a selfish :):):):):):):).

That said, I actually liked Bryce's story. It was nice to see his flashforward, and learn why he was killing himself. It was a bit derivative, and a bit sappy... but there isn't anything wrong with it if it is done halfway decently. I also really liked the actress that played Keiko. So half of this episode was in the win column for me.

I liked the Bryce/Keiko story. It showed that sometimes we don't understand everything about the flashforwards. It sounds like Keiko knew they'd meet in LA, even if Bryce didn't.

The Mark/Aaron/Tracy story is a setup for further developments, but didn't do much on it's own.

I have a theory that if Dr Benford and Simcoe ever kiss, the show will implode due to the stars being from parallel universes (Walger and Davenport having been on the US and UK versions of Coupling). We will see . . .

I went through the same thing. "Hey, I know her, she's from Coupling. And hey, I know him, he's from Coupling. BUT THEY'RE NOT THE SAME COUPLINGS! Aiee aiee!"

Finally got a chance to watch it. The Bryce story was entertaining. I find Mark to be completely unsympathetic and self-centered. Dmetri at least has a reason to be freaked.
