Just finished the final Mistborn novel, The Hero of Ages, by Brandon Sanderson. I haven't been as excited about a series since I discovered Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. Wow! Each book came with an unexpected ending!

It's been difficult to find something on par with that since, but I have moved on to reading an anthology of Clark Ashton Smith's stories. I think the dichotomy is a bit too large between Mistborn and the CAS stories . . . I'm close to putting the CAS stories down and finding a good epic again. It's like grinding gears. My brain can't make the change. ;).

Have you read The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch? I had a similar experience after the epic enjoyment of the Mistborn trilogy, and found Lies and its follow-up a good complement.

Sanderson's other fantasy books (Elantris and Warbreaker) are also quite good.

Just finished "The Thirty Nine Steps", now moving on to "Watership Down". I'm really digging my new Kindle.

On the manga front, I'm finishing up Junji Ito's Museum of Horror.

No, just that it was originally scheduled for something like Feb 2009, and is not out yet. I liked the first two, but not enough to looking around for the author's blog or fan message boards or the like.

Oh okay. I went to his site and couldn't find any mention of it, but then again it seems he hasn't really posted anything since September anyway.
