Gildrim and Karl's expedition is moderately successful, gathering an assortment of nuts and fruit, as well as a pair of unwary rabbits who stumbled too close.

The night is uneventful, passing peacefully in a glow of soft moonlight that gives way to thin gray clouds by morning.

[sblock=EXP]Well, there is the minor issue of Richard's EXP... he's currently at 9951, so 49 more EXP till 5th. Just FYI[/sblock][sblock=adendum 1-14-10]by-the-by, I have no problem with holding Richard back from levelling so as to not upset the CR and other characters EXP. (No clue if it would bother anything, but just saying).[/sblock]

[sblock=XP]For defeating 2 ankhegs at CR 3 each:
  • Weel and Karl get 450 xp each
  • Richard and Gildrim get 400 xp each

I believe Weel and Richard both go up a level. I'm happy for that to happen now.

The journey to Cragger's Rest takes several more days of uneventful travel. The rolling terrain of the lands near Orussus is gradually replaced with flat, muddy land, with scraggly clusters of trees instead of the large swathes of continuous forest that are common farther north. And then there's the smell. When the wind is from the east, there's a strong odor of green, standing water, and all the life -- and death -- such places contain.

Cragger's Rest is a sleepy roadside town, with small but sturdy houses clustered around a large inn and stables complex, which stands across from a general store and a simple smithy. In better times, the inn would have bustled with merchants coming and going from points south, but these days its spacious accommodations are mostly empty. Still, it is clean and well-maintained, and a boy emerges as you approach, gawking at the fine armor and weapons borne by the party, and ready to take your horses if you show signs of wanting to stay at the inn.

"Ah've steyed haur owernicht afair, ay coorse," Gildrim reminds the others. "It's a couthie wee toun. But thaur's a sheriff wha wisnae sae fond ay... well, nae me, but th' laddie wha wis wi' us. Sin he's nae haur noo, Ah widnae worry. But mebbe we shoud airt oot th' Marchwand estaiblishment afair th' gomerel decides we plunnert th' cairt."[sblock=OOC]I had to look back through 'Urn Your Pay' to find the name of the sheriff, so probably Gildrim doesn't remember it either. They met a lot of people in a short space of time and heard a lot of names.[/sblock]

Karl leans over to the priest and asks, "Uh Weel, did you catch all he just said? I caught something about being here before and a mention of the shire reev, but that was about it."

[sblock]updated xp, hp (Several days of healing) and xp tracking info. [/sblock]
