Underdark - anyone has it?

I've only done a quick skim so far, but I'm pretty happy with it and this isn't usually my kind of book. It was somewhat amusing because I picked it up because I wanted to do an Underdark campaign that kicks off with the home village of the PCs (and them) being sucked into the Underdark.

And lo and behold, that plotline is on like page 6 or something ;)

I would have thought Derro to. They were great in "Night Below".

I needed a Derro for an adventure a couple weeks ago, so I made one, if that's useful to you.

After waiting about five weeks for Plane Below to arrive here in Oz... and it's still not here... I bought Underdark (and Plane Below) from Amazon and they only took two business days to arrive. (Very cool. Sorry, FLGS, but I cannot keep waiting and waiting.)

I've read most of Underdark so far and I like it. I'm always keen to see more myconids and other mushroom-related stuff; the living fortress of Hraak Azul with its fungal altars is just the sort of stuff I want for my Underdark. I've also just added a fungal dragon into my most recent adventure because it just really suited one of the encounter sites I had planned.

Details from PoL-land are rather emphasised in this book in a way that makes me think that the ground is being laid for PoL-land to be released as a campaign world. Even though I run a post-Spellplague Forgotten Realms game I still found enough for me to consider this a worthwhile purchase.

I haven't read all of it - skimmed most of the book - but I like it. I am not that familiar with the Underdark and it is very useful to me as such. The backstory behind Torog is interesting.

One tidbit I like is that there is an indication that the world kinda... "ends" deep down. Reality comes to an end, and the Far Realms is not quite as far.
The material world does not have to be a sphere... ;)

Would this book be useful in an Eberron campaign? In my case, I would like to keep Drow out of it, but I realize that could be a challenge in canon Underdark.

Wow, this is an outstanding book, near as I can tell. I've barely scratched the surface, but so far I like it. I like that there's more info and fewer delves. The monsters seem neat. And Torog is all of a sudden one of my favorite D&D gods, and now I need to come up with a way to work him into the campaign. :) We're running P2, so I see lots of opportunities!

Speaking of, is anyone else getting a little bit of a Malazan-style Crippled God vibe from Torog? Or is that just me?

-O

Yes, and in a very good way! :-)

It was a surprisingly well done book. I have many 4E issues but the quality of the product is not among them.

I agree, this book is tops and is easily one of my favorite 4e releases (I'm currently half way through the Feydark chapter); I liked it so much that I'm adding a paragon-level excursion to the Underdark in the campaign I'm starting to plan.
