Any Dark Sun info from DDXP yet?

Oh, OK, the first one's free after all...

D&D XP 2010: Dark Sun Characters : Critical Hits

maybe I am reading to much into this, but the elvin battle mind has 2 weapons, the jaw bone axe, and the crystal sword... since both have the same att bonus, but the axe does more damage I could not figure it out... then I saw the crystal longsword is listed as a ranged attack!?!?!?!?

does he throw it? is it like link from legend of zelda? is it just a mispritn??

Woo-hoo!

And it's confirmed, finally! Half-giants are goliaths!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That made my whole day.
The best thing about this is that they are willing to reskin a race that is very close to what another race is (rather than make a totally new, redundant one). This is a good thing for all campaign settings (DL can reskin Half-Orcs as Brutes, Goliaths as Half-Ogres).

I'm curious about the weapon breakage rules. Is this non-magical weapons only? And I assume implements don't count as weapons.

That's what I said! :D

Which means that if they ever did Dragonlance, we would likely see halflings as kender (which is only natural anyway). True kender or afflicted can be worked out through role-playing, feats, etc.

Not certain I'd go with half-orcs as brutes. Goliaths as half-ogres...maybe.

Hm. Don't know how I feel about the themes... I was hoping for a theme to be a bunch of magic item daily powers, only without the item present... or some collection of non-combat powers. The powers listed seem to have little connection to the themes themselves... but maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

The Thri-Kreen looks pretty cool... kind of curious about the Mul, though. All in all, I'm getting pretty excited over the opportunity to play Dark Sun again, after all these years!

Well, "Theme" is probably not the best word choice, I'd think. It implies a more unifying concept than it actually seems to be. It seems to be an extra (perhaps feat-granted) power that is accessible to many different characters. The word kind of implies it would be more comprehensive for individual characters.

Really, though - do we really need more powers? The way I see it (and this is all just my humble opinion, here), 1st level PCs don't need an additional encounter power... and, really, I dislike the idea of the benefits of a theme being related to a power. Because, there will be inevitable power discrepencies, which lead to "well, I'm a con-based fighter, which means theme X is the way I should go...". Bleh.

Personally, I was hoping themes would be a collection of powers not related to ability scores or feat choices that mimicked magic item dailies, as opposed to encounter or daily powers. This seemed the obvious choice to me, as it also allows the game to lose the connection to magic item necessities (there should be less magic items available to DS PCs) and treasure packets, while still keeping DARK SUN PCs on par, power-wise, with their non athasian PC counterparts.

You have a problem with a Con based fighter getting more out of Gladiator than Templar?

No. But I *do* have a problem with a player making a con-based fighter, and then looking at the themes and going "hey, gladiator fits my build better than pit fighter or Urikite Soldier".
