On the way to game today, I picked up two packs of minis and hit the jackpot. Inside my Underdark pack was a roper, which looks far better than the Against The Giants one. And in the Deserts of Desolation pack, I found the holy grail; a gelatinous cube!
It's always been frustrating to me that all the D&D mini pictures are poorly shot low-resolution stuff, so I took my camera and grabbed a couple of shots. Just look at the detail on that roper... why don't the new ones have that kind of production value?

I have a roper from the Against the Giants set, and I really like it. And as for quality, don't you guys think the quality has improved in Legendary Evils and Savage Encounters? Those two sets were nice. Dangerous Delves was rather sucky (the beholder was horrible compared to the Deathknell one, and it couldn't even stand up-right). Dungeons of Dread and Demonweb wasn't all that exciting either, nor was Against the Giants (obviously there were some exceptions). However, I did like Desert of Desolation.
