Pathfinder 1E [ONLINE] Pathfinder: Worlds Largest Dungeon

Hey

I was reading this thread and noticed what you said about Maptools.

I've been using Maptools for several years now. It really isn't difficult to use; most of the complexity is optional. For example, I don't use the lighting/line of sight stuff -- I just unmask the parts of the dungeon that I think they'd be able to see as they move.

You definitely want to import maps from PDFs rather than drawing your own, though. I would think that , if PDFs are available for the WLD maps, Maptools would actually be ideal, and really easy.

I've always thought it would be fun to play WLD. I'm not certain that I have the time for a Thursday game that will last for years , but I'd enjoy subbing in for a session sometime!

Hmm, well I could take another stab at using Maptools again I guess. What about adding tiles or tokens for your miniatures? I didn't see how they were supposed to be uploaded. As I stated in my first post, I've got over 1000 PNG tiles that would be nice to use in Maptools.

Would you know a good site to go to download free tiles or other resources such as maps?

One of our players, Drekken, seems to be missing in action. We may need a new player to either take control or bring in a new character so we might actually need someone. I've put you up as a reserve if he doesn't come back.

Hey StreamOfTheSky, do you know how a "Ranged Touch Attack" roll works? I'm trying to review some of the possible upcoming dangers in our adventure and am a bit confused on this rule for magic attacks.

Ranged touch attacks are just like regular ranged attacks, except they ignore many things that add to armor class, since all the effect needs to do is touch the person, not penetrate his defenses.

Assuming no other modifers, like maybe a bard's inspire courage, a ranged touch attack bonus is equal to: BAB + Dexterity Modifier + size modifer (0, if you're medium size).

The following adds to Touch AC: Deflection bonus, dodge and dexterity bonuses/penalties, size bonus/penalty, luck bonus, insight bonus. Generally any untyped bonus will add to touch AC unless stated otherwise.

The following normally will not add to touch AC: armor, shield, and natural armor bonuses.

Ranged touch attacks can critical hit or critical miss on a 20 or a 1 just like weapon attacks. If the attack doesn't do any sort of damage, you don't really get anything out of confirming a crit, though. All monster and PC entries should list touch AC for easy reference, I have it on my sheet. If you can catch someone flatfooted AND use a touch attack (most common instance is a hidden Rogue using a magic device of some sort to launch a spell attack), the enemy loses dex and dodge bonuses to AC and should be incredibly easy to hit. It's...actually a fundamental tactic Rogues rely on to hit and kill things at higher levels.

Hope that helped.

I've PMd Drekken, but get no response. I just PMd Haffrung Helleyes as well to see if he'd like to join the party. I've given him the option of taking over Drekken's character or rolling up a new one and joining us along the way.

Hey

Hey, I just noticed your PM...

Truthfully, I don't think I have time to commit to your game. I wouldn't mind sitting in on a session, but you should probably look for another full time player.

Okay, thanks anyway.

I've edited the OP to need 1 more player. We'll keep playing Drekken's character until we can get another.

I feel like Genghis Khan when he sent in dummies or tied up prisoners ahead of his actual fighting army to absorb the first hail of arrows from his opponents every time we send Drekken out first to investigate something. By which I mean, it's awesome. :)
