I find it funny that people take the time and effort (and are so narcissistic) that they need a forum for their thoughts all for themselves. Public conversation on BBs are like being at a party. You go in and out of conversations as they happen around you.

Having a blog is like setting up a podium at the mall hoping\imagining someone stops and listens to you.

If people didn't take the time and effort (and perhaps narcissism) to publish their thoughts and ideas, we wouldn't have games, books, comics, or any other form of media entertainment. Thank goodness Gygax had the narcissism to think someone other than himself would enjoy playing his new fantasy game. Thank goodness Mike and Jerry had the narcissism to think someone other than them might find their comic strip humor interesting. Thank goodness Shakespeare had the narcissism to think someone might be entertained by his plays.

Hell, this site right here was originally, and continues to be, put up for public view on the idea that someone finds it interesting enough to visit. I guess that's narcissism?

At least someone who puts their work, (writing, art), out on a personal web site is doing it on their own dime, rather than using someone else's party to voice their opinions.

As for putting my thoughts and feelings out there in the public domain (and not-for-profit) I have these things in real life called friends.

And in addition to real life friends, some of us have these things online called "readers" or "followers."

Unfortunately, along with readers and followers, some also get these things known as "hecklers." You know, those folks who don't have the guts to put out, and so just poo-poo on those that do.

To answer the original question... yes, I do blog (link in my sig) and created rpgbloggers.com to make it easier to find RPG blogs. As I just discovered when filling out a resume, I've been blogging since 2003 in one fashion or another.

Blogging has helped me get my current job, helped me get my master's degree, and lead to meeting a number of new friends, as well as my current girlfriend. And it's even helped me make a few dimes myself, and the occasional free product.

So you'll have to excuse me as I view it as being a bit more than just being a "self-absorbed narcissist."

In my experience/opinion, getting emotionally crucial 'information' from unknown/anonymous people behind a keyboard is a very dangerous practice. If it makes someone feel better, so be it, it's a free country.

Also, if you wish for some sort of celebrity, be careful what you wish for. It doesn't always work out the glorious way you would like, in my experience.
