Speaking of the chair, I think that Franklin (who used the chair and vanished) is merged with the ship or something and is behind the disintegration of the Lucian Alliance soldier. We shall see...
I'm gonna go with Eli and Chloe stumbling on to the bridge, and that caused the power surges and possibly an internal defense network to be activated. Destiny at this point considers Young and others it's crew, or perhaps was programmed to accept the first people to gate on board as crew, and subsequent groups as incursions.
My guess is the opening to space above the door is a red herring and that it was Franklin as the ghost in the machine that did it, but maybe its a double bluff and the writers are trying to really fool us.
Hopefully Eli and Chloe will be...useful by exploring some of the ship we haven't seen yet.
The opening may have allowed Franklin to shoot force field energy at the soldier or something, so both might be true.
Well, now we know how they get Telford onto the ship and into a regular role. I didn't understand why they hired Lou Diamond Phillips if they were only going to use him every 3 or 4 episodes.
I like the Lucian Alliance attack more than I thought.
Youngs hesitation to vent the room was of course a bad move. Writing-wise, I would have handled it differently - let the Lucian Alliance get inside with their masks already on - everyone except Telford/Rush. That would have been a lot safer, ultimately. (Or maybe it wouldn't - travel from the milky way to the destiny gate seems very violent, it could damage the equipment?).
I am not sure it was a "ghost in the machine" Franklin that killed that Lucian guy, but it doesn't seem unlikely. An interesting question might be if the ship has this tricks in multiple places (and not around exposed shield areas) - it could explain why the aliens never managed to get control of the ship, if Destiny can pose such resistance.
Rush asked why the ship hasn't gone to FTL after the wormhole closed, and why there wasn't a countdown. Did Franklin get more control? Is it part of the safety measure? Or is their actually a force at work we didn't consider yet? Maybe the aliens are also making an attack?
I figure one thing that could stop the fight for control would be a common enemy. Some aliens, or the ship acting up.
I'm hoping Chloe and Eli will find something useful too, but somehow I doubt it. I think they'll eventually run out of air and be saved at the last minute.
