D&D 4E 4Ed Dragon Compendium & DDI

Is there a language barrier? Are you part of some pro-digital media cult?

My message doesn't seem to be sinking in. I've told you I don't want it- repeatedly- yet you keep trying to convince me that I should get it.

I'm not lying here, I'm not being dishonest- I don't want DDI. It is not economical for me; it is not practical for me; I don't care for the format.

I'm not condemning digital content per se- for some, its fine. But I have no desire to own any electronic media save the stuff I create myself.

Why should I be grateful for being browbeaten about this?

To use your own phraseology, please don't tell me over and over again how I can get a product I have no desire to own!

For your interest I don't own a DDI sub. Even so, I think it is very useful. The reason I have none is, I'm not actively playing 4E right now.

I don't care why you don't want DDI - but telling someone X is good and useful seems to be the right thing to do especially if X is really good and useful. If you still don't like X don't get it. No problem.

Before this discussion between you and me escalates let me ask you something else. Do you think you'll buy the DA2009 or not based on the answers you've gotten so far?

Not after they've repeatedly said "Not interested." There comes a point where it starts riding the rails to Rudeland.

Well, I like the answers I got about the book, especially the Starlock article If the DM approves of Dragon material- or if I get a good price on it- I'll probably pick it up.

The Twin Pact feat...what combos have seemed to be the most effective/enjoyable?

I'm playing a Starlock, and I'm leaning towards taking the feat and probably taking Infernal Pact as the PC's second...but Feypact also has some interesting possibilities.

That depends. Can you post your build or at least your ability scores?
Then again, you might as well read this: The Power of the Dark Side: The Warlock's Handbook (June 2010) - Malkonnen

Speaking of "Rudeland", I am pointing a finger at you.

People have offered a lot of suggestions, in a lot of different directions, and all you've done is stomp your little foot, and screamed, "I'm on a Mac, I'm an Entertainment lawyer, I'm also a luddite and I don't believe in anything digital because trees have to burn and the air has to be poisoned for me to get MY entertainment."

Some people take themselves WAAYYYYYY too seriously.

Mod Edit: Irony - didn't anyone ever tell you pointing fingers was rude? You don't address the rudeness of another by being rude yourself.

Folks, this is a prime example of 'getting personal" - trying to make the issue about the personality of the poster, rather than the stated positions. This is dismissive, and not generally acceptable around here. If you think someone's being rude, report their post - don't get in their face like this. Thanks. ~Umbran

As said in other posts in this very thread, I'm no luddite. I'm cool with digital content. Its my bread & butter. Advising clients on how to market/position/sell themselves digitally is my job.

I just have no use for most purely digital media in my personal life.

It makes no sense for me to shell out $100+ for a copy of Windows to run just to run CB- and since skirting the law in this area could cost me my licence to practice law, that is exactly what I'd have to do.

Yet despite repeated statements that I don't need/want DDI, people repeatedly insist that I should get it.

This is called a "hard sell", and not only is it rude, if you were a business pushing your product, I coud sue you.

In addition, I'm wondering if anyone has USED any of the Starlock stuff in that article- some looks cool, but is it really?

To answer your actual question, yes. The Wish Upon A Star article is pure awesome. Great new fluff paired with some feats and powers that help Starlocks kick ass and take names.

It's just a shame you have no interest in the Dragon PDFs, since you could get that info and tons more for less than the cost of the hardcover Annual, but I do understand the desire for a physical product.
