hold person and monstrous humanoids

It only works on creatures of the [humanoid] type,
not the [monstrous humanoid] type.

Quite possibly the monstrous humanoid type's raison d'être was to maintain those creature's immunity to the "Screw Over" Person catalog of spells that they generally had through 1E & 2E.
