I've preordered Monster Vault, happy to have MM1 monsters updated... but, seriously, this is 4.5 in disguise...

Not really, you can go back and re-work the iconic monsters yourself. Or you could pony up 10$ for one month of DDI and download the Adventure Tools which has all of the monsters in it.

In fact, you don't really even need to use the new monsters, just use the updated damage values in the errata. If you want to take advantage of the time that they spent developing the material though, you can buy it.

Your post makes me look like complaining against a 4.5 update.

Shame because they swore there won't be a 4.5. In my opinion, Wizard kinda lied and are doing 4.5 in disguise, but it's just my opinion, feel free to disagree. I just dislike the way it smells.

I have nothing against a x.5 edition. 3.5 was cool and the best thing happened to 3E, 4.5 can be as cool.

Having invested heavily in miniatures I initially thought that I did not want to pay extra for tokens, when I just want the monsters. I do not use tokens at all...then I thought of a use for those mini-mad DMs like myself. Use the tokens for when a foe is dropped. I usually try to keep fallen minis on the board, but it does get messy. Tokens may just be the trick to placing dead creatures.

Can we put the 4.5 ... 'stuff' in one thread as opposed to bringing it up constantly in every essentials thread?

It's related I guess but complaining of wizards lying in every essentials thread is definitely into threadcrap territory IMO.

And hey, you can get tokens for the MM1/2/3 monsters to complement the MV ones!

MM3 tokens? Ooh, when?

The versions for Heroic 3 (as JPGs) and Heroic 3 as PDF are available right now. I'm working on Paragon 3 and Epic 3, and once all are done, they'll be sent to print.
