Where's my D&D Essentials?

Well, that was fun

I think I'm the last person in the world to see these books. I've seen reviews for the last couple of months, everyone's talking about them - and my Amazon pre-order made many months ago still hasn't arrived.

I don't have an FLGS. Am I doomed to be two months behind the curve on D&D books forever? By the time I get them and want to start talking about them, everyone else will be talking about the next thing.

When did you get your D&D Essntials book? Was it through one of those "preferential" stores?

Sorry, Guv'nor. Doesn't seem fair.:hmm:

I got mine from a plain old ordinary FLGS. Nothing special about it.

Only the initial books are available around "here" (northern virginia), yet.

Perhaps you should come to an agreement with a Forumite living closer to the source? That way, you'd cease to be behind the info-curve.

I get all of the D&D products from my distributor the day they are released. I even shipped some out internationally as soon as I got them.

My prices are about what Amazon sells for (sometimes a bit cheaper) and I try to charge only what it will cost to ship. I could have hooked you up. :p

I don't really sell D&D books very well, so I don't always make sure I have them in stock. But I can get whatever anyone wants if I don't have it stocked.

I hijacked your shipment and got them. The're great!

Actually, I walked into Orcs Nest in London and bought Heroes of the Fallen Lands there. I love it, and am being drawn back into the 4e "I wanted to see" if that makes sense!

You might be better off forgetting Amazon and ordering from Orcs Nest or Leisure Games in London.

I've ordered books from Amazons USA, Canada, UK, France and Germany and have noticed that the UK version is really slow at deliveries. Canada is generally fastest for me. No idea why the difference.

By the time I get them and want to start talking about them, everyone else will be talking about the next thing.
Like say, a Pathfinder Intro Set? :)

The real question is whether you'll get your book before or after the update to DDI that includes Essentials.

yeah, i think review copies went out mid-august. and then premier FLGSs had it available for retail sale in early-ish september. and then actual street day for 'regular' retail was mid setember.

thus, you've been hearing about it a while. though, i only got the rules compendium just over a week ago at the regular street date. i haven't even given it more than a skim through so far.
and i'm sure some others are in the same boat. so you aren't that far behind

your best bet may be to fly overseas, visit a game store, and then fly back... because, you know, that's the most obvious solution :)
