Since when does any PC want to sleep through the day and watch other PCs do things? :)

The player might've missed the session ;)

At least it would be elegant to do this in controlled environment. Back in the day (very first RPG campaign I played in), whenever a player missed the session, our DM would just make his PC go into coma. We were a bunch of merry narcoleptics. We would go through the dungeon and look!, the dwarf collapsed. How typical of him. So others would carry him for weeks, without a word. Somehow none of those were ever eaten, which is peculiar now that I think of it, as we did sometimes cannibalize (damn dungeon!).

I'm a bit worried though, that this little black-ops is going to further delay the gladiatorial games.

Seriously, Rich is teasing us with the whole plot here. How many of us are looking forward to the upcoming smackdown? Let's get on with it already! I'm still hoping to watch Roy mess Gannji up, though it seems more likely he'll be matched with Enor.

Though Belkar vs. Gannji might be even better.

Roy v. Belkar, to the death.

But yeah, Rich is taunting his audience. We know the big matches are coming up, we know it's probably Belkar's prophecied demise, and we know Elan will probably find out his long lost dad really is Evil and that Tarquin's intentional Darth Vader homages are more appropriate than (maybe even asking Elan to join with him, overthrow the Empress and rule the Empire as father and son). We're just waiting for the payoff.

I'd rather see Roy v. Gannji and Belkar v. Enor.

Because Roy totally needs to stomp Gannji into a bloody stump. And because Belkar actually has the dex, good base reflex save, and evasion to avoid the breath weapon. Also, Belkar being a small character, makes it all the more awesome to have him disembowel a large one (I like making small PCs that are total racists against the oppressive "big folk" :) ).

But we won't be seeing those matchups. :(
