Good RPG shop in Ottawa?

I've seen Dragonfriend's post about a good RPG shop in London and ironically I'll be leaving London to spend a few days in December in Ottawa.

As I've never been there before (in fact I've never been anywhere in Canada before except Toronto) are there any good RPG shops should I have time to take a look?

Cheers! :)

I don't know if it qualifies as a "good" RPG shop, but Fandom II on 162 Laurier Ave West was my gaming haunt when I lived in Ottawa. I haven't seen it in 11 years (!) but it was definitively a classic old-school gaming shop. If the Google street view is any indication, it still is. :)

Enjoy! Ottawa's a fun city, and the weather will be delightfully cold in December (alas, you'll be there too early for the 11km of canal to be open for skating...)

gamingly,

Kannik

I was there in May 2009 and it was still doing well-deserved business. :)

Enjoy your trip, Erekose and be sure to check the neighbourhood; Parliament Hill is just a few blocks north of the store. They'll also have the Christmas lights up and all over Elgin Street; snow or no snow, it's a beautiful sight.

Yes, as others have said, check out Fandom II. They had already been around for ages back when I arrived in Ottawa for my grad student days. I checked in on them the last time I was in Ottawa earlier this year they were still going strong.

Fandom ll is probably the best in Ottawa. Located in the Downtown Core.

The Google Map location image is a little off. You need to rotate the view to the left twice to see the actual storefront.

It's about the only truly dedicated Games only store that I visit.

Staff are a bit gruff, but personable.

I'd drop my dollar there more often if it wasn't a pain to drive or bus down from the west-end of the city.

Along Bank Street, you can also find a Silver Snail comic shop, and also one of the two The ComicBook Shoppe in Ottawa.

Silver Snail held a decent but small collection of gaming books last time I was there. (Before 4th ed.. yeeesh, it's been awhile..)

In terms of a good RPG shop Fandom II really is the place to go in Ottawa (they do also have some basement gaming space and billboard to post local games). I've actually visited over 50 comic and/or game stores in the Toronto area this summer for a project and am hard pressed to think of a store with a finer selection of current RPGs.
CAFRedblade highlighted the other contenders. There is a few others that might have a few books (Entertainment Ink! in the Place D'Orleans mall in Orleans comes to mind) but these are usually only worth a wisit if your already there.

Looks like I'll be going to Fandom II!

Can't wait for the trip - it's work-related but I'll have some free time to look around.

Many thanks for the post :)

It's unfortunate, but the Comic Book Shoppe's website isn't a good representation of what they carry for gaming. The store's worth visiting in person, but not many of their RPG products appear on the website itself.

There's also Wizard's Tower, which has locations in Nepean and Kanata. They're at Wizard's Tower Comic Book Stores. Like the Comic Book Shoppe, they actually have a pretty decent sized RPG section....but pretty much nothing mentioning it on their website.
