Please recommend good minis for WFRP 2nd Ed.

I would like some recommendations for minis to use with WFRP 2nd Ed. (with links to the minis if possible). I would prefer either Games Workshop, Reaper, or similar quality minis on the same scale. My spending limit is $180 USD. The only minis I currently have are from my board game Descent + expansions. Descent's monster minis are on the proper scale, however Descent's hero minis are a bit too small. Which monster minis from Descent would be appropriate for WFRP?

You want painted or unpainted? Metal or plastic? Price range? $0.50 a fig, $1 a fig, $2 a fig, 3 a fig?

Higher quality Halloween party favors should cover any more giant spiders and giant bats you might need. Enormous rats that would need the stats of light warhorses or Destriers can also be had cheaply.

If you don't mind getting and attaching separate bases, the old "Battle Masters" game is seemingly floating around $50-60 online and it has a bunch of Warhammer setting models. Not the best models, but there is a nice mix that should be kinda close to the scale of Descent minis ...

The obvious choice is the Warhammer model range from the GW Tabletop Warhammer Fantasy Battles, especially character models (which are usually available as singles or in small packs). Of course, they are quite expensive.

You already mention Reaper, who have a huge model range.

Freebooter also has some really nice models, which might fit well.

Then you could look at stuff like Avatars of War, or similar Warhammer-esque 3rd party suppliers.

The free company is really good value for general imperial chancers & ne'er do wells. They are unpainted but fun to make if you like that sort of thing. & unlike most of the army stuff you can get a lot of different models in a box set. you can mis them with plastic skeletons & zombies to make undead pirates or the archer box to make even more varied guys.

The plastic boxes are great if you need a lot of something but probably have too many models for roleplaying really, though I think they do a few smaller boxes.

(I have a lot of fun mixing & matching GW plastics, even if I do not use them)

Most of the single models from the main range are a bit too elaborate for PCs IMO & most of the multiples too uniform IMO.

I am looking for unpainted metal or plastic minis that are on the same scale as GW and Reaper. In other words, basically 28mm scale.

Descent's monster minis are on 28mm scale. However, The Battle Master minis are too small (less than 28mm scale). Castle Ravenloft figures are basically D&D figures. Nothing wrong with D&D figures, but I have quite a few D&D-type monster figures with my Descent board game. However, Ravenloft figures do seem to be good quality and are worth looking at.

Halloween toys are lower quality sculpts than I am looking for. I am trying to stick with high quality miniature companies like GW, Reaper, Avatars of War, Red Box Games, Gamezone, WoTC, and Heresy Miniatures for my WFRP minis. I would like the minis to truly represent (as much as possible) the WFRP theme and characters.

I think the GW plastics are not bad for the money, especially the Empire guys. Metals start to get pricy fast but if you stick to plastic troop boxes you can get quite a few for that budget.

If you can get lucky with e-bay, you might want to look for auctions of Advanced Heroquest or Warhammer Quest items. These were GW's precursor to FFG's Descent back in the 80's and 90's and the box sets are loaded with different minis. However, I don't think you would be interested in the lower quality Heroquest minis (the one released by Milton Bradley).

There also was some sort of "character packs" by GW back in the day, as I recently noticed when I opened my Warhammer Quest box and found a slew of various plastic wizard minis inside (about 12). I think there was at least another pack of various warrior-types. Unfortunately, time has eroded my memory of how I got them, though I seem to remember it being a small box set of some sort.
