No Arcane or Divine

Dreamscarred has put out a lot of psionics material that's basically better then most of the stuff WotC shoved out - including a full psionics-only campaign which could give you base classes similar to the traditional ones, but without the arcane/divine powers.

What about it would you consider superior?

Doc,

What role do the clerics play? Is there an open church that grants the clerics their diabolical powers and that the masses are not aware / ignorant of them or are they like the wizards, a secret cabal / cult / society to be hunted down by our psionic heroes?

Do they exist in numbers yet remain hidden like in Warhammer or are they relatively few (yet really nasty to deal with)?

I ran an only "moderately-lived" :( campaign (that went well, even so :)) a little while ago, with underwater vs. surface-dweller as the most powerful long-term setting conflict.

Anyway, yeah, I had magic only available to one "side", and psionics only to the other. Shades of Atlantis, *much*, yes. ;)

More Psychic's Handbook kinda "psionics", and well, rules changes left and right. But the basic principle is similar, I guess.

It's all down to your group. If players are in general cool with experimenting, going with the flow, keeping true to a setting's flavour, then I can't foresee any issues.

Well, to put it in terms of comparisons, WotC's psionics material was mostly at Complete Psionics levels of bad, while Dreamscarred pretty much stays at XPH levels of good ;p

Dreamscarred was started and is run by some of the more liked fans of the WotC psionics forums who decided they could do better then WotC on their own. From what I've seen, bought, and played, they were right :p

Clerics are members of secret societies and cults. In extremely remote regions they may have converted entire towns to the worship of their fell lords but in these cases the entire town would be pretty disturbed, something along the lines of the various villages described in Lovecraft style writing.

I have not really used the Complete Psionics material. Looking at it I see that they mostly created rather generic psionic versions of the divine classes. To me this is rather pointless. If I use all those classes then why do psionics at all, you could just use regular classes and say the powers are psionic derived instead of arcane or divine.

In this campaign I would stick to the classes in XPH. I dont want there to be a carbon copy of every regular class with the word psionic stamped on it.
