One Hundred Pounds of Gems & Gold

Nagol had some good maths above.

I do disagree with 2.5 pieces of gems per pound, however.

Using the mysterious metric system (on an undisclosed island somewhere within international waters) I found this pound to carat conversion:

Pound to Carat Conversion - Convert pound lb to carat ct - Weight Metric Conversion

1 lb = 2267.962 Carats

Added up, the 10 largest diamonds in the world are:
Crazytopics: 10 Largest Diamonds in the World

Just about a pound.

I'd say that once you throw gems in there...the answer is "whatever monetary amount you want."

AHHHH, just reread Nagol's post...he was just arbitrarily establishing that 1 pound of treasure might have, on average, 2 and a half pieces of gems.

I used the "Art Object" chart from the SRD and used all entries where Gold and gems occurred together (61%-100%). I figured a somewhat sensible and convenient weight per artwork that gave me 40 pieces of treasure.

It's still the name of the currency. £ still stands for "pound sterling".

Well, for pound anyway. I believe Ireland used the same symbol for its pound prior to the Euro adoption and that wasn't a sterling.

For no apparently good reason I thought the pound sterling was renamed when the currency got its deciaml overhaul.

However, I was just following up the whole 100 lbs of gold == £100 schtick. (and if anybody believes that and has spare gold 10 carat or better, I'll happily trade GBP or equivalent other currency on an adjusted weight basis!)
