D&D Movie/TV New D&D Movie

My problem with the D&D movies is I have only 2 eyes, and I cannot, as yet, regenerate...though in all honesty, I think I could get through #2 without plucking one completely out.
When I watch #2, I need both eyes to be in tip-top shape!

I'm sure he didn't work on the actual animation or the CGI, but sorry if that came out too harsh, GRStrayton!

No worries. Margaret and Tracy were happy with the draft I turned in (you can search around the net for their quotes about the script) and that was the most important thing to me (since I loved those books since I was a kid), and after that I had nothing to do with the final (unfortunate) version that emerged. Ugh, don't even get me started....

You know who should be the lead in a D&D movie?

Vin Diesel.

When is that going to happen?

I've been working on this -- he has a character from one of his original campaigns in the late 70s/early 80s called Melkor that he wants to use as the main character for a D&D-style film. And he's a huge fan of the game, of course. I've met with his production company, but haven't been able to get anything moving on that front. I've heard he's a very cool guy and would love to work with him, so I'll keep at it!

As far as D&D3 goes, I'm working on several ways to get you more information -- it has to be done in tandem with two large companies, so everything takes more time than I'd like -- but I will get you as much information as I can as soon as I can. I'm coordinating my trip down to the set in New Orleans (well, outside N.O., of course) this month, so ideally I'll be able to get you some pictures by February. At least, I'll do my best!

Good luck man. I sincerely hope your efforts don't get trampled by some Hollywood know-nothing. Would be great to have a D&D-branded movie that wasn't embarrassing and could hold its own against the non-D&D films that always inspired us.
