Anyone know if Dave Arneson had an ENWorld account?

Ispired by the Operation: Power Level Gary thread here. I was wondering if anybody knew if Dave Arneson had an account here at Enworld so we can give him XP also?

If no information is forthcoming about an account in the next few days, I'll make an account for him. In that case I was thinking of using the name Blackmoor, but if anyone has any other ideas or know of any nicknames for Mr. Arneson, post them here. If we get a lot of name ideas, I'll make a poll to find out which is the favorite...

He was darneson at Finarvyn's OD&D boards; that link will take you to his profile, from which you can query for posts by him. As far as I know that was his only forum presence but I'd love to learn otherwise.

Uhh...why? Not the same thing by any stretch. And a bit morbid. Gary was actually a member here.

Nah, I get it. It's to show respect, and it is kind of lame to have this great movement that respects Gary, and then to absolutely nothing for Dave... it just seems very one-sided in a way that Dave saw most of his life.

I don't really see anything morbid about it. These "power level" threads are just as much about the people power-levelling as they are about the person being power-levelled.

But it wouldn't be Dave. It would just be someone who made an account as him. That's not honoring him. What's next? Charles S. Roberts? I was feeling a bit uneasy about the Gary thread too, but went along. He was actually here. But it feels like it's getting overboard. I'm getting the heebie jeebies here.

Edit: the idea I suggested before all this was a simple custom title for Gary's account. Something original that no-one else could have gained.

I think it's a wonderful idea to honor Dave Arneson as a co-creator of the hobby, but yeah, Dave wasn't an active member of EN World like Gary was. And that's not a judgment of any kind on my part, just a fact.

Please don't do that. Having an unrelated third party set up an account representing him could get confusing or even legally troublesome. And, quite honestly, it is not your right to do so. Thanks.

As Aldarron pointed out in another discussion about Dave, he had two user names on that forum: Darneson and Blackmoor.

According to most of the people who knew him, Dave Arneson was a very modest person, who might not be too concerned about such things, but I guess it is always nice when someone is looking for ways to pay respect.

Edit: Since the moderators ruled out this option, perhaps you can find some other way of honoring Dave? :)

I too agree that creating an account for Dave would not have been appropriate.

However, if someone wants to honor Dave, I'd suggest a thread with quotes or links to things he's said or a "thank you, Dave" thread, perhaps laced with anecdotes of memories with Dave or perhaps messages of how he's influenced our life in some way.
