Would you prefer it if your partner said you were a great GM, or great in bed?

The questions are simple:

• Would you prefer it if your 'partner'* said you were a great GM or that you were great in bed.
• Which would hurt you more - he/she told you you were a crap GM or crap in bed.

The poll is open, and private, so please tick the two that apply. Please show a little respect for Eric's Granny in any replies.

Mod's, I know this is a little racy, so i won't be offended if you close it. It's not actually about sex per se - it's more about what people value and what their self esteem is tied to (which is why I asked both sets of questions). If you can amend the poll to read partner, though, that would be great.

*Please take 'partner' (girlfriend in the poll)' to read any significant other - wife, boyfriend, husband, mistress, honeybunny, friend with benefits, old squeeze, trouble and strife, ball and chain, current crush, person you are stalking etc - in the questions and polls. Sorry if anyone felt excluded!

Well, considering that I'm married, I doubt my wife would be happy if my girlfriend (which I don't have) said I was a great DM or great in bed.

I'd have phrased the beginning of the question differently, i.e., "which would you prefer:".

Even if I wasn't significant other-less currently, the question is too limited because the answer that I feel matters isn't one of the choices.

Hmm, I have about ten people who could express an opinion on my qualities as a DM. Only my wife can reliably say whether or not I'm good in bed. Plus, I make more of an effort in bed.

And another thing: if I'm a lousy DM one of the other players can take over and everybody will still be happy. If I'm lousy in bed, there aren't too many options.

I tried that (which would you prefer) but it wouldn't have worked as well for the latter two questions, and I was in a hurry to get the poll up and you can't edit them, dammit.

Re: your second point, if you add too many questions, you can dilute the point, and there will always be an option missing for someone. Note though, that the poll is more about what people value / esteem in themselves than about sex (You may know you're not a great sexual partner, but to be told you are a rubbish GM too)

How important is it to you to be thought a good GM by the person closest to you? This thread asks you to examine that idea, albeit in a provocative way.

As much as I advocate for an "As much gaming as possible" philosophy, this poll clearly shows that some people have their priorities screwed up if this is even a question.

I can't address too much of that without danger of crossing the "grandma" line. To be short, what is important to me in an SO is how zie feels about the whole me, not just my prowess in the sack.

Regarding the second paragraph, that depends on if my SO plays RPGs at all. We can assume, for the sake of this poll, that my hypothetical SO does.
