GLEE #38: Original Song

Regionals already? Didn't they just get through sectionals? New Directions thinks they can win regionals by doing original songs. They probably will since the remainder of the season is going to be them competing with Vocal Adrenaline in the state competion.

Despite the title, only three of the songs are original: "Get It Right" (performed by Rachel), "Hell to the No" (Mercedes, if you haven't guessed), and "Loser Like Me" (New Directions). Two of these songs are on Glee: The Music Volume 5. Here's hoping they're better than "My Headband".

Warning: Kathy Griffin is in this episode.

The rest of the playlist:

The Dalton Academy Warblers sing "Raise Your Glass", originally performed by Pink

The Warblers sing "Misery", originally performed by Maroon 5

The Warblers sing "Candles", originally performed by Hey Monday

Kurt and the Warblers sing "Blackbird", originally performed by The Beatles

The not at all stupidly named Aural Intensity sings "Jesus Is My Friend", originally performed by Sonseed

Four Warblers songs in one episode? Gwynneth didn't get that many. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like Kurt is leaving them soon.

You should be able to edit the title by editing the first post, and clicking the "Go Advanced" button.

Three new original songs so far - Only Child Trouty Mouth and Big Ass Heart - great stuff!!! :)
Seriously though, who rights this crap...

Okay, after a couple of so-so episodes...This one was pretty sweet.

Rachel learns about the phrase it's lonely at the top. The sad part is, in a lot of ways, the speech she got was a wake up call. Maybe now, she focuses on music and quits trying to go after Flynn, probably not, but she should.

For a guy that's not really gay, the kid that plays Blayne made that kiss very believable. He won't but he should win a best supporting actor, he really sold his character tonight.

Other than the 3 My Headband songs, the only "low" point was Blackbird. Kurt has sang some amazing stuff, this wasn't one of them. His voice is so much better suited for other stuff, that seemed a little 'forced'. Hell to the No was pretty sweet. Over the top, and diva-ish. A perfect song with a perfect character, voice behind it.

This was a pretty good episode, with one exception. Their horrible portrayal of the Tea Party in the one judge. I'm have tempted to write FOX and blast them for it. Anyway, I don't want to start any political discussions, as I know that is a big no-no, but just wanted to say that particular character drove me nuts.

For the most part, I've been a big fan of Glee though. And the original songs, at least Loser Like Me and Get it Right, were really great. They've generally done a great job with the music on this show.

They had Kathy Griffin playing her, what did you expect... Although it was kind of funny as someone who's seen KG's comedy act to hear her lambaste the G/L/T community, especially when she starts every show with, "Where my gays at?" For me, it played out more like an inside joke than anything else.

Yeah, I got it, and it was fairly humorous. At the same time part of me was cringing and going "really?"

It just struck me kinda the same way it does when somebody portrays all roleplayers as some sort of mid-thirties geeks that still live with their moms, you know?
