GLEE #38: Original Song

Seriously though, who rights this crap...

Someone told to write songs as if they came from a teenager who hadn't ever been out of Lima, Ohio...

Rachel learns about the phrase it's lonely at the top. The sad part is, in a lot of ways, the speech she got was a wake up call. Maybe now, she focuses on music and quits trying to go after Flynn, probably not, but she should.

Not gonna happen. On TV, stable relationships are not interesting relationships, so expect them to yank Finn around for at least another year.

I feel a little sorry for Quinn. Her speech amounted to, "Rachel, you're going on to better things. I'm not. Please leave me the best thing I can hope for out of this sorry town."

Other than the 3 My Headband songs, the only "low" point was Blackbird.

Oh, I liked Kurt's "Blackbird".

Yeah the new songs weren't too bad. I expected Sue to have a blowup after hearing her song, but I guess they're going to save it for later on.

"I come from a small town (pop 300) in Southern Illinois, I could write better than that at 15. Sorry, those songs are REALLY bad.

Yeah, I know, but there was always hope. Quinn, though is being pragmatic, if not a little cliche'. She's probably correct if you consider the real-life stories of celebrities (not celeb-utaunts, they don't really count.)

Oh, I liked Kurt's "Blackbird".
I just felt it sounded a little forced. Like I said, he's done some amazing stuff on past shows, I just didn't think his voice was suited for it. Meh, I'm a producer, I over analyze this stuff. :)

Oh, is that was she was saying? She kept saying it, and my wife and I kept looking at each other going "Huh? What's she saying? Tranny mouth? That doesn't sound appropriate!"

Didn't get that one at all!
Lolz, if you paid attention to the non-"tranny" parts, you notice she was referencing other fish too. I think the writer of this was listening to that old "Dr. Demento" stand-by Wet Dream and let it go to their head.

Sorry, those songs are REALLY bad.

Yes, they were supposed to be. Have you not noticed that the show tends to be a bit hyperbolic? At this point in the real world, Coach Sylvester would not only have lost her job for physically abusing students, she'd now be in jail for assault.

So, the songs being really, really bad seems about in line.

Yeah, I know, but there was always hope.

Hope? Hope the show gets more boring? I'm not sure that's a good thing to hope for :)

Quinn's settling. She's decided she's a Lima Loser, and can't hope for anything else. That form of pragmatism from a teen is self-limiting. Expect them to break it sometime soon...

Well, I'm a listener, and it didn't sound forced to me at all. I thought his voice was wonderful for the song. Different tastes, I guess.

She's got a really thick accent - we fimd it hard to understand a lot of what she's saying. Either that or she mumbles, we're not sure. But we often have trouble making out her words.

I think the quote is "Two great nations separated by the same language." I have no problem figuring out what she's saying but then again, I lived on the East coast for 15 years (that isn't an Ohio accent for sure). While I never had a problem with Cockney, many Americans will look at a Cockney speaker like they are speaking a different language.

I always thought is was funny as a kid when shows from England with Welsh, Irish, Cockney and Scottish speakers had subtitles. :D But I get it. She speaks quickly, and in an eastern "brogue" for lack of a better term.
