D&D in Foreign Languages

BECM (but not I IIRC) were translated into German as was every Edition of AD&D and 3.x (including the inofficial "3.75" Pathfinder ;) ), but only the 4e Core Books (PHB, DMG, MM) were translated ever before WotC didn't renew the contract with the German publisher (afaik WotC wanted to find someone else who would pay more for the license but didn't).

That was the end for D&D 4e in German (but not in Germany, as most players I know use the english rules anyway).

F&S also started to produce 4e books in '08, but their license expired just after publishing MM1. Since then, there are no new German D&D products anymore. Due to this the German RPG "Das Schwarze Auge" is the undisputed market leader.
That's another one I'm going to have to put my hands on someday. I actually had the chance to buy that for 60% the cover (and since the US to DM conversion was 1 - 3.56 at the time, it would have been literlaly dirt cheap) and of course...I didn't. Oh well.

Rest assured, many German guys whose "dominance of English language" is dubious at best buy and use English books, while not necessarily understanding written therein. ;)
Having heard a large portion of Germans speaking English, I have the sorry task to inform you, their command of the language is probably better than most American teenagers. :( But all in all, we are all still one happy mixed up gaming world, and frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way. ;)

I once ran a game based on the Seven Samurai - instead the players played Paladins... oh, and everyone had to speak in pig latin the entire game. Drove the NPCs crazy...
