My poor dwarf death priest

We had our first session of an Eberron campaign, and my 11th level Blood of Vol adherent dwarf warpriest with the death domain from Heroes of Shadow learned the hard way that he really needs some sort of ranged attack.

The terrain was hilly, and my slow speed left me unable to harm the nimbler enemies, who all had ranged 10 attacks.

Normal warpriests have high Strength, so they can at least chuck javelins. But the death domain wants you to go Wisdom and Con. My only ranged options were dailies.

Any suggestions, other than "don't go outdoors"?

Purely a flavor discussion, as I don't know the warpriest at all, but I can't really picture a death cleric using the melee weapon build.

Is there anything other PCs could do to push enemies toward you?

What stops you taking a ranged at-will like sacred flame? Albeit at ranged 10 they could stay out of your range, but that would be fairly difficult.

At-Wills come with the Warpriest build. Cant swap em around like that.

p.s. To OP Normal warpriest dont have good str , PHB Str clerics have good strength. All warpriests are Wis/Con.

I would normally suggest Scale or Armored Agility, but your a Dwarf. It wont help. You did pick the slow race here, Dwarves get the BEST racials in game, but they are slow.

You gotta understand that you picked a low mobility race and a low mobility class, end result is as you described. As much as the numbers match up, dwarf cleric has its issues.

Of course they do, I had completely forgot that. Could always carry a hand crossbow or something to make the odd ranged attack. Sure you'll be useless with it, but at least it is doing something. Alternatively: Start getting used to the joy of readied actions!

Melee Training and charge?

Multiclass into invoker with Acolyte of Divine Secrets or into seeker with Primal Sharpshooter and pick an at-will power that you can use once per encounter? Grasping shards (invoker) or grappling spirits (seeker) might be good choices since they slow the target(s) on a hit, which should help you to close with them.

Ultimately I'm the healer, so as long as the PCs are within 10 squares, I guess I can still do my job. But all my nifty "triggers when an enemy nearby dies" stuff would go to waste.

I like the mount suggestion. I'll see if the GM's cool with it. Otherwise, it might just be fixable if I talk to the other PCs about sticking closer to me, or driving enemies in my direction.

Yeah, it is a weakness of the build, but half the fun is working around those things, and of course you'll hopefully not be in this situation constantly. I was just trying to think of an item of some kind that has a ranged attack power.

Hey, you could ride an Ebony Fly, hehehe.
