I bought a pack of 10,000 fonts a while ago. I thought it was a good idea, (for only $19.99), but really, it's just SO MANY FONTS. And they aren't organized other than alphabetically, (which is useless). I started going through them to separate them into buckets (folders), but after over 4 hours, I had only gotten less than 1/4 the way through the whole list. I gave up.

Ten thousand fonts. Lots of really good and useful ones, but dear God -- 10,000 fonts!

But really, all anyone really needs is Comic Sans, right?

I haven't bought a 10k font set, but between various fonts that have come with software over the ages, I found that I have over three thousand fonts myself. It's so bad i actually bought font management software to help me keep track of them.

One of the most fun (and applicable to RPGs) buys I made was Fraktur mon Amour. Tons of great blackletter fonts. For a while, I was doing an in-campaign newspaper for my campaign, and each village and town they went through had its own masthead with a different font.

I highly recommend The Font Thing - a free program for organizing your fonts into categories that you decide:

http://download.cnet.com/The-Font-Thing/3000-10248_4-127875.html

I use it faithfully for my font collections and categorize things into similar categories based on the RPGs I'm playing and maps I want to make in Campaign Cartographer 3.

It makes viewing and categorizing fonts (while you are viewing them) fast and easy.

Because this will come up -
Using Font Thing in Widows 7

I use FontManager X3, but Font Thing works just fine - the only advantage to FM is how it integrates with PagePlus. (Plus, I got FM really cheap.)

Lord Kyl's Mediaeval Fonts now live on Mouser Fonts, along with many other nifty typefaces. :)

And I am not a font addict. I can quit any time I like. Any time I like!!!!
