[D20 Cartographer] One Dollar Dungeon: Cleric's Cathedral Map Pack

I've just opened my online store on RPGNow and am celebrating the release of my very first product!

One Dollar Dungeon: Cleric's Cathedral

This first release is a map pack featuring a large (over poster sized!) furnished cathedral with an attached crypt.

Of course the pack includes printable PDF versions in color and high contrast black and white for the table top games, but it also includes full VTT support! The included .rpmap (Maptools) file comes with vision blocking and a robust object layer set up for you. If you use a different VTT, it is no problem, as the full map 100.dpi images and about 17 .png objects are included in the download. And all of this for only one dollar!

There will be a One Dollar Dungeon that is themed after each traditional RPG character class, so if you like my first release, keep your eyes peeled for the next, which is coming soon!

Anyway, thanks for reading. If anyone ends up picking it up, let me know what you think--I want to make the best products I can.

I have to say this looks pretty cool. I like that you included all kinds of supports around the walls. It reminds me of the old catholic church I went to as a kid. I have to ask though: the raised walkway in the back part of the cathedral has obvious combat uses, but what normal use does it serve?

Excellent question. When I was doing research for the shape of the structure, I noticed that lots of cathedrals have these raised areas after the transept, and mostly for the choir and for a raised place for the clergy to speak from. It also serves to separate the section of the church where the clergy are allowed to go and the regular plebians are allowed to attend. The shape of mine is a little more 'tactical' than most, but hey, artistic liscense. :)

Nice work. I especially like how you've included a Maptools vision blocking file. I wouldn't worry too much about 'practical real-world uses'. People build stupid :):):):) for stupid reasons all the time in the real world. Hell, just look at any modern or old architecture and 90% of it serves no purpose other than to look artistic.

One suggestion, though, is that you might want to try and get into the DDI beta to see how they're incorporating (if they are at all) user-maps and if they are, how you can go about making yours compatible.

Anyhoo, I'll definitely pick this up next week when I'm not totally and completely broke. Good work.

You mean the virtual dungeon thing Wotc has been talking about for years is finally happening. No wonder Satan hasn't updated his facebook account lately, he's probably too busy making snowangels (or demons i guess) :p

I'm imagining a paid, less versatile, flashier, but easier to use version of Maptools that only supports official WotC products. It could happen! I suppose it is bound to sooner or later...

The beta play testing has been underway for some time now. I haven't been able to get in it so I don't know how good or bad it is but yes, it's expected to come out soon... ish.
