Question about rules

Uber Dungeon

First Post
So my friend made a fighter, with the two-handed fighter variant from the advanced players guide, he uses Overhead chop+vital Strike+Power attack+ Furious focus and dishes out epic damage on level 6 with his great sword he's doing 4d6+23

My question is; Can Overhead chop, vital Strike, Power attack and Furious focus be stacked into one attack like this?

By the language I believe he can. Overhand Chop, Power attack, Furious Focus and Vital strike all say when you take an "attack action" you get X, Y and Z.

I might rule that they don't stack for balance sake, but by the letter of the law I'm pretty sure you can.

out of curiosity how is he doing +23?

18 or 20 str +4 or 5
specialization+2 PA +6
weapon training +1
magic weapon?
10 6 1 1 2 so +20 or so.

anyhow power attack and furious focus work with any and all melee attacks these work with both over hand chop and vital strike.
is your Pc doing this combo when he can male 2 attacks? if so let him as he is likely reducing his damage.

key bit is overhand chop it's own standard attack.. or just used with one? most people seem to say yes it can be used with other uses of the attack action.

Looks good to me. With Vital Strike coming at level 6, this is going to be a sweet spot for damage for this character. Level 11 will also probably be a good level.

10 6 1 1 2 so +20 or so.

-STR 20 +5 (Double STR with "Over Head Chop" so +10 and +15 With a two-Handed weapon)
-Power Attack +6 (reading over power attack, I think it he over looked that this damage is increased by 50% with a two-handed weapon... so +9)
-Weapon Specialization +2
and weapon training... +1
= +24 damage. (+27 considering PA with a 2HW)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think thats right.

His power attack with a 2HW should be +3 at level 1, +6 at level 4, +9 at level 8, +12 at level 12, +16 at level 15(Greater Power Attack), +20 at level 16, +24 at level 20

I would also take overhand chop to be replacing the 1.5 STR of a 2HW (comes out to +10). I may be wrong on this but that is what makes sense to me as the ability is only useable with 2HW

Total: +19
