I've been reading the Dragonlance Chronicles for fun, and I got to the part where they fight (and get their asses handed to them by) a giant slug.
Giant Slug is a cool monster. I like random weird monsters like that.

My PCs home city was enveloped in a huge sentient plant (the size of the city- half fey/half-shadow) which captured the citizens and ensnared them in its vines- growing larger by draining their fluids etc. (see the Matrix)
With the plant thing came a bunch of overlarge insects, including from the above list- Butcher Beetle, Megapede, Giant Sea Scorpion, Giant Praying Mantis, both Wasps and the final encounter the Giant Slug...
PCs loved it... just to finish the picture the PCs were underground at the time while this all happened- one of their number had just discovered that the Eladrin Princess he had slept with was in fact an Aboleth- and there joining had been blessed (they had spawn), they'd just got out of fighting the aboleth- who mid battle had been declaring everlasting love for the PC party member when an earthquake hits- they stumble to the surface to discover the plant creature in place, the citizens captured and insects the size of houses doing the rounds.
Oh and a great black pyramid floating in the sky above the city.
