Except the flavor text of "Hammer of Gond" suggests the thrown hammer returns, while the crunch omits that feature.

It could just be referring to the fact that magical thrown weapons return in 4e. No real need to put in an extra rule.

It's still borked for me in FF, but works in IE. Well, it's on my drive now with all the others, so it no longer matters.

I thought it was decent enough from a crunch perspective. I don't use teh FR as a setting, so I skipped the fluff. I only have one Artificer character, and none of my players use one, so I'd have to review it in context with the other powers out there to see how these stand up. I liked the feats, particularly the Arcane Trapsmith.

I too enjoyed the article. Personally I don't mind the fluff that was in it, and I will actually be using it as I prepare my next campaign setting since there's some really good material in there that jives well with my setting. So, even though I'm not running the Realms, and haven't in some time, it still worked out well. In fact, while crunch is good, I always like flavor to support the crunch and it makes it a much more enjoyable read (to me).

The trapsmith feat was, in particular, especially tasty.

Except Hammer of Gond isn't the name of a magic weapon --- it's a feat granting proficiency with warhammer, and the ability to use same as a thrown weapon.

Nice feat. I like having a smart guy / leader type who occasionally solves a problem by throwing a hammer at it.

Yeah, oops, I admit to not even thinking about mundane weapons when I wrote that flavor (Phaezen is correct as to my thought processes). The feat is not intended to make a mundane weapon return to your hand.

*edit* And in the version up now, that text is no longer present.

Don't artificers have a class feature that non magical thrown weapons return like magic ones?

Edit: Yeah here you go:

Some artificer powers have the weapon keyword and often require a ranged weapon. If the ranged weapon fires ammunition, the ammunition carries the power’s effect. Otherwise, the weapon carries the effect. When the attack is made, a mundane weapon returns to the artificer like a magic thrown weapon does.

Yes, finally works. I love Synchronized Weaponry, that's pretty cool. Coiled Spring Traps is just hilarious, and I do like Arc Infusion. Ice Shard Traps is a little meh, but so are most of the Artificer's first level encounter powers. All the powers have some nice flavour to them, so even if I'm not sure if they are powerful to see use in most Artificers, they were certainly worth the read.

Yes Hyatt, very nicely done article. I can agree about the call for a Swordmages of Eberron article tho. I wouldn't mind seeing some new toys for the Warden either, but they aren't as world specific as Swordmage and Artificers.
