A lot of people who have the funds and would have ordered it did not know about it. I've talked to a number of old Vampoire players and GMs who just don't do a lot on line so by the time they heard about the book it was too late to be part of the pre order. I also think WW under estimated the fan response for the book as well as not really doing a great job of getting the word out. It is not unlike the Pathfinder version of Tome of Horrors.

Yeah, this seems like another classic case of underestimating the demand. Tome of Horrors Complete is another recent example, but it's hardly a new thing in gaming circles--Player's Handbook II for D&D 4E was awfully hard to get when it first came out (the .pdf policy changed around that time too, so there were a lot of 4E people in my neck of the woods that were not pleased).

It looks like the .pdf and the forthcoming print-on-demand format are the options for "the masses" that didn't get in on the pre-order. On the other hand, I personally know people that deliberately ordered extra copies specifically to put them up on eBay. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that perhaps a FLGS or two also ordered copies to sell as a "prestige item" in a display case or something. While I doubt that the secondary market will be flooded with extra copies, you'll see some go up on the secondary market when they ship out.

If Mage 20 will be based on Revised Mage they can keep their book. Revised killed Mage dead. I'm only about 6 books away from completing my collection of 1st and 2nd ed Mage, so I can safely pass :)

Did you ever do an extensive writeup for your own city for Vampire? I know that many groups played in their hometowns, but I haven't really seen people do much writing about it (except insanely long character backgrounds as big as some novels). I've sort of been carrying it around in my head for years and haven't written much about it. But something about 20th Anniversary edition kicked my fingers into gear and I've enjoyed writing about it lately.

Reading this thread inspired me to look up my old 'Melbourne by Night' notes put together 10 years ago for a campaign that never got started.

Stands up pretty well, though a bit non-specific in places and maybe a few too many old, low-generation vampires and rarities around the place. Though I wrote it in buses and trains while backpacking, so it's in pencil in an exercise book rather than electronically. I really should type it out, the pencil is starting to smudge into illegibility and I'd hate to lose it all, even though it's vanishingly unlikely to ever be actually used.

They wrote V20 to be useful to all eras of Vampire players. I'd assume M20 will be the same, with the Avatar Storm and the like in optional sidebars.

yea, I was just told assamite have the old flaw, and gangral are a cam clan, but there are rules for the other in sidebar...

I just hope that if they do a Mage20, that I get a good pick of a Virtuel Adept with an Iphone as his foci.
