The biggest news is this:

"O NOES WE WILL NEVAR SEE SUPORT FOR PBH2 AEDU CLASSES! MAH HPB2 IS OBSOLETED!"

-O

I support my local charity by donating $1.00. That's pretty much what Wizards means by support of the older stuff and the only reason is because the Bard and Barbarian are in those books. If those two classes had been in the Heroes books then they probably wouldn't have mentioned the PHB2.

Creating a few powers that some other classes just happen to be able to use isn't supporting AEDU.

Haven't read the full article yet, but that Witch At will is very, very powerful. Prone+Slide+target cannot make OA's until the next round? Wow! Grant CA to everyone else, stop the target from moving next round and make it so that monkey piling a target costs nothing.

Isn't that a tad overpowered?

Yeah, that's like a level 3 encounter power.

I assume they figure that it's reasonable because of all the other crazy stuff wizards can do with at-wills already, which don't require melee range.

witch receives the gift of arcane power from a patron
such as an archfey, a god, a devil, an angel, a demon,
or another powerful being.

Sounds like a Warlock to me.

Edit: Your very presence
unnerves and intimidates other creatures, which naturally
find your eldritch powers either awe-inspiring
or frightening.

Sounds more like a Warlock the more you read.

The witch patrons are nicer. They at least tell you how your magic gun works. Unlike warlock patron who give hand you the thing and maybe say "Don't go crazy."

Beast Switch is overp... wait, does that say Melee 1?... vs Fortitude? hmmm I don't know.

I like the witch. It's closer to the real-world traditions of magic from folklore, who were in part religious (magi used to mean priest in... Persia, was it?). All the way up to Willow in BtVS, witches called upon higher forces to enact their magic. The tie to a moon is also in keeping with that.

A witch makes a great controller counterpart to the warlock and hexblade.

Yeah, except it doesn't even compete with the existing Mage at-will Beguiling Strands. In fact it isn't even in the same LEAGUE with Beguiling Strands. Or how about Scare, which prevents OAs against you in a blast 3 and does about the same damage but attacks vs Will? Really, wizard at-will powers have gone up in effectiveness, this one is only at best par for the course. Probably not even a top pick, though it is at least worth considering.
