Juno frowned. "So that's werewolves, right? I guess that fits with the silver too. But if a werewolf is doing this, what was this doing on the roof? Maybe...okay, what if there's a werewolf who is trying to reform or something, like control himself so he doesn't change. And this thing helps him with that. So he's up on the roof for some reason, and oops...he loses it. So then he turns into a werewolf and jumps down and kills those people..."

She trails off. "But that doesn't make sense because it's happened before. Okay. It's a work in progress. Just shotgunning here."

"A vial? That's interesting. I'll have to consult my books and see if I can find anything on this. In the meantime, Juno, I suggest you go and try to find this woman of the Orient. She's undoubtedly linked to this somehow.

"I could use some help looking through the books too, if any of you are so-inclined."

OOC: Dafydd will start a computer search on this vial based on his digital library, but since his digital library is rather small, he'll also start doing things "the hard way" by looking through his physical book collection. If there is anyone else who wants to stay with Dafydd to help, he'd be much obliged. What kind of roll do I make to look through the library?

OOC: Research is Intelligence + Occultism, with a modifier based on your Occult Library quality. For those unclear (or unpossessing of the rules), aiding is the same roll, but every success (9-10: 1 success, 11-12: 2 success, etc...) the aider gets gives a +1 modifier to the main check.

"Find the..." Juno winced and scratched the back of her head. "Look, don't you think we should start with the girl? The survivor? I mean, that's a solid lead. This asian girl...she could be anyone. And we don't have any way to find her unless she accidentally dropped her wallet there or something. And even if we do, she was at the crime scene when you were. She might not have seen anything more than you."

 

[Systole]

"I must agree with your charge, Rees. As intriguing as this woman's appearance may have been, we've little way to find her, and the survivor is likely to have at least some information. Come, I will assist with your investigations while the younger generation gets some healthy exercise."

 

[Herobizkit]

"She should be easy to pick out of a crowd, on account of she's lit like a Christmas tree," Rory snickers.

"Well, Juno, since you're the... Slayer, is it... oh, I luv that band... what do we do, then? Help the old codgers with their musty old tomes?"

Rory crosses the room and pulls a thin volume from the stacks. Ah he absentmindedly flips through the pages, he slowly asks, "There wouldn't be any... magic tomes here, would there, Professor?"

"Well I suppose looking for the survivor is as good a start as any. But something tells me this Asian woman is going to be involved in this somehow. I'm not the sort to believe in coincidences, especially the convenient type. If there was a supernatural being nearby, then that individual is undoubtedly connected to the murders. And as Rory has pointed out, she should be easier to find. Perhaps you could split up. Rory can look for the uh... demon seeing how he has the 'second sight' as it were, while Juno goes to find the survivor.

"As for magical tomes, I don't think that's any of your business just yet, Rory. Let's keep our minds on the matter at hand for now."

OOC: Dafydd will research the vial found in the rosary. I think his +9 to the check is probably the highest. And it is his library after all.

"Okay, but before I go I need an address or a phone number or something," Juno said. "These guys probably aren't in the phone book. The girl's name is Rachel Brandon. Her family's owns or is involved with Edge Communications. They're keeping her off the media radar, so I don't know for sure where she's being kept. Any way you geniuses can find that out?"

"Actually that should be rather easy," Dafydd says to Juno's request. "You might be surprised how quickly you can find someone on the net these days."

Dafydd opens a computer search protocol that he designed himself for searching the internet for this kind of information and sees what he can find.

INT. DAY - HOSPITAL WARD

Nursing staff move about doing their rounds, although most are tense and jittery at any long noises. In the background, a young woman with an amputated leg can be seen in her room, attended to by a few nurses and aides.

Two security guards patrol the area, but not specifically the woman's room.

Juno and Gavin stand near the entrance to the ward.

CLOSE: JUNO AND GAVIN

I'd say Dafydd's search was right. The girl seems to look like Raychel Brandon. What now?​

CUT TO:​

EXT. DAY - ALLEYWAY

Steven and Rory poke around various garbage bins and packing pallets. The alley itself seems to be a dead-end, and no sign of the Chinese woman is found.

CLOSE: STEVEN

Subtly sniffing the air.

At the alley entrance stands Sandra, looking at the two men.
