What's the point in giving gunslingers extra attacks?

So, the gunslinger has a basic BAB attack progression, but I wonder how they can use multiple attacks if the gun they're using is a musket or a flintlock pistol? With rapid reload it only changes the reload time to a move action, so they couldn't reload during the attack. And the feat specifies crossbows, but not firearms. So what's the point in having multiple attacks if you can never use them? (Aside from the fact that all classes gain multiple attacks anyway.)

Well, you kinda hit the nail on the head

Aside from the fact that all classes gain multiple attacks anyway.

That aside, there is a way to use your 2 attacks. take quick draw, tie flint locks to your belt, grab, shoot, drop, second attack, grab shoot drop. You can do that a number of rounds = to guns you have/attack you have, 4 guns = 2 rounds, 10 guns = 5 rounds before you need to reload

Finally, there are revolvers and vital strike works well with guns in general (which needs high BaB as a prereq)

As Dingo describes. Ever watch a pirate movie, Napoleonic era TV shows like Sharpes Rifles or Horatio Hornblower, or the ambush scene in Patriot, where Mel Gibson, has a dozen preloaded muskets laying on adjacent trees, but only one guy doing the shooting?

Four flintlock pistols stuffed in your belt means for four attacks without reloading. This is a very common tactic for the era of single shot guns.

And it looks completely hardcore when you're surrounded by smoking pistols at the end of the fight, with everyone else dead.

I am playing a Gunslinger right now who uses two advanced revolvers and he reloads as a free action. Also since revolvers get six shots each he doesn't have to reload until all shots are gone. Yes it's expensive but it's worth it.

But I like the look of a full festoon, with lanyards, better. :p 'I'm the rootenist, tootenist son of a polecat you ever laid eyes on!'

Two carbines on the back, four pistols in the festoon* 'pon my chest, two more on the belt... It may take me a while load all of 'em, but I can fire 'em off right quick....
