Dungeon 197 - Creature Incarnations - Hordelings

These look fun - I'll have to make some up when my PCs face the hordes of the abyss.

Though, one question - when one rolls a telepathic hordeling, it states that they "also speaks Abyssal and one other language 50 percent of the time" - does this mean they automatically speak abyssal and have a chance of speaking another, or that they have a 50% chance of speaking both abyssal and another language (and a 50% chance of speaking no languages at all)?

My hordeling is a small skirmisher with a wrinkled spherical head and a feathered, slug-like lower body. It has a single glowing yellow eye on a stalk. Its three-beaked mouth crackles with electric energy and its four stubby arms ends in fiery claws. Although small and legless, it moves with surprising speed, ambushing its prey from the walls and ceilings of the abyss.

That sounds awesome! Those kind of results are why I wanted to write this article.

They can speak Abyssal and have a chance of speaking another.

My hordeling is a glaring, menacing large aquatic artillery demon that shoots depth charges (thunder damage). Its conical head is connected to its rubbery, scaly torso and knobby back by a long, thin neck. It has one small pointed ear, a mouth full of small fangs, two slit-like noses, three horns, and four glowing multifaceted eyes. Two tentacles serve as arms, while four long, clubbed "tails" provide locomotion on land and underwater. It can swim, move through walls (phasing), and it can turn its reeking breath into a cloud of poison gas.

Oh, and it can smell you where you're hiding (truesight)... probably because you're pooping yourself in terror (it's trained in Intimidate!).

What's your hordeling?

That is awesome! However, I can't view the attached stat block; it says the attachment is invalid.

I was messing with it as I spotted mistakes in the stat-blocks, hopefully you just clicked on it when I was replacing it with a new version. Does it work now?

What is the lowest level hordelings?

Because I find it weird that hte weakest, littlest demons in the abyss are such high levels.

The ones in the BoVD are a Level 11 Brute (but that's a swarm) and a Level 11 Minion. These are Level 13 monsters.

That's what I mean - that's pretty high up there. Pretty sure there are lower level demons out there. Hell, quasits are only level 3.
