I like Dragonborn, but I don't really care whether they are core or even whether they are included at all. For any race they include I just ask that they are flavorful nad interesting choices. I'd rather they be dynamic and flavorful than iconic. I'm open to many different playable races in my fantasy worlds, yet I'm unafraid to preclude any that do not fit the flavor of my campaign world.

I don't like how they were shoe-horned into settings, but that's all the more reason to not drop them now. Even though I personally don't like them, I'm sure dragonborn would be more popular with my group than halflings and dwarves.

I'd appreciate it if they found a more setting-neutral way to present them (and tieflings), like examples of what they're like in different worlds, but that's all I'd really ask for.

Cheers!

The problem is that whenever something is introduced as a player option....barbarians, half-orcs, kender, bladesingers....you get a constituency that expects it to be around in the future, that, even if a minority, can still be a pain for the company that makes D&D. A prominent race in the first PHB makes this worse.

They should just stop coming up with new stuff.

I don't like Elves: Please stay away from D&D Next.

I'm sure I'm not going to get what I want and I know I can just ignore them in my games if they are in the game but I don't even want the book to waste space on them.

Now I loved the Noldor from Middle Earth but I didn't like them as a playable race. 4th editions Elves, to me, were just out of place and a bit goofy. I mean you had dragonborn, tieflings, humans, genasi, then Elves. I didn't really like their version of the Halfing but it was more tolerable than the Elf. The Aasimar was the most normal I wanted to see a playable race in D&D.

I just wish they would leave that race alone.

Oh look, ANOTHER thread by ForeverSlayer that does nothing but hate on 4E. ANOTHER one.

Seriously, we get it, you hate 4E so much you have a complete and utter lack of ability to let ANYTHING that it introduced into DDN.

If Dragonborn aren't in the 5E PHB, it will fail at unifying the editions. If you don't like them, DON'T USE THEM. Seriously, why is that concept so difficult for people to understand. Stop infringing on the fun of others.

I would prefer to see a single concise Core Rulebook, and that would mean making some serious cuts. That, by extension, means Dragonborn being dropped from the core.

If WotC choose not to go in that direction, then I think they're seventh on my 'wish-list' of races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome, Half-orc, Dragonborn, Tiefling, Half-elf, Eladrin. So, wherever WotC choose to make the cut would determine whether they should include them or not.

I certainly think that they should aim to get Dragonborn (and the rest) into print ASAP, and potentially should have them in a web enhancement right from the outset.

Seriously, hobbits are a waste of space :p

Well the only reason my younger male cousins kept interest in D&D is the pictures of dragonborns Anthe 4E PHB and MM.

Dragonborn aren't my favorite race. Not close. But I am okay with them.

Now I loved the Draconians from Dragonlance but I didn't like them as a playable race. 4th editions Dragonborn, to me, were just out of place and a bit goofy. I mean you had elves, dwarves, humans, gnomes, then Dragonborn. I didn't really like their version of the Tiefling but it was more tolerable than the Dragonborn. The half-orc was the most monstrous I wanted to see a playable race in D&D.

ForeverSlayer, I generally like your threads because you tend to offer a more "old-school" point of view, but this thread just came off as silly I read it.

You don't like Dragonborn. You don't want it in the book
Got it.

In the thread you started you had already found a way to deal with something that may be in this next iteration. You have solved this for yourself. Why shouldn't this option be available for people who like Dragonborn and want them to be a part of their game?

This is the internet and you are most definitely entitled to your opinion like anyone else, but as someone who actually enjoys reading many of your posts, I hope you're not more of "that guy". By that I mean, that guy who is entirely against options and ONLY wants an old edition "re-skinned". The purpose of D&DN is to appeal to gamers across all editions. Ideally this is an edition that should appeal to old and new school gamers alike. This is only done by giving options available across many editions. Not by omitting those options entirely.

If I am way off base here then I am sorry. This is not a personal attack.
