to the topic at hand, for those of your who do not like or, probably, have never used the TotM...give it a chance! Let your mind wander...your imagination expand...envision the surroundings and play-by-play in your mind...if something is unclear...ASK your DM! They should be able to supply whatever you need to fully envision the combat.
Yes, I'll admit it...I'm a TotM guy. Sorry. Never, in almost 3 decades have I ever used minis to play D&D. We HAD them! We played around with them...not IN the game, but just for fun. lol. We had them, sometimes, in front of us on the floor/table as a representation of what our character
might have looked like...but almost NEVER did we "need" them to conceptualize what was happening in the game.
Work with it...try it out...and enjoy it...enjoy the freedom from the mini/grid machine!
