The model that I would prefer would be four classes, followed by dozens of different themes.

Fighter + Theme = Barbarian, Ranger, Monk, Cavalier, Paladin, etc.
Cleric + Theme = Druid, Priest, Paladin, etc.
Thief + Theme = Assassin, Monk, Bard, etc.
Mage + Theme = Psion, Illusionist, Sorcerer, Warlock, etc.

But this probably won't happen. *Sigh*

Every class, ever.

Except cavalier/knight, I don't like having to keep track of what my mount is up to all the time and I don't ride creatures lacking ethics.

Easy: don't vote for it. This is why the poll says CLASS. TWICE.
Then I guess I'm not voting in this poll. The question seems a bit one-sided. It might be more interesting to have a poll for "assuming all of these are in the game, which of these doesn't need to be a class?"

No, its not that poll, you are right about that.

I may not think a bunch of stuff should be a class. I may also think things should be a class for some reason, but not for me to play that class. But does that matter? What people want to actually play probably matters more.

Now, I am expecting some marginal cases. The assassin may be one. In that case, maybe just some nod to assassins without a full class (at least in the first rules) may be enough.

1) Yet all the postings that it shouldn't be its own class...

2) Whats interesting to see is how popular so many of the other classes are.

3) The plan to do all the PHB (I) classes may not be a bad one...

!) Name one, that is not in the majority.

2) Which classes?

3) I agree.

I don't think he said that was the majority opinion. I think he was pointing out the irony that there are a decent handful of threads where people voice the opinion that Ranger/Paladin should not be their own class (FWIW, I am not among them), while several polls such as this one would indicate that a significant portion of readers here favor them as classes.

Also, I'm pleasantly surprised that the Druid is getting some love. I've always thought Druids were cool, but I don't often see them getting much attention.
