Any playtest stories from the Weekend

It seems as this thread is not going to be the place to post Playtests - seems to have been overrun with those that haven't, aren't going to or are not interested??

For what it is worth we had a double session playtest - will be posting in our Playtest thread.

Right now its so far from what I want that it isn't worth much of my time. I'll respond to the questionaire that WOTC sends but that is all I'm going to do.

My time is valuable to me. If the game was close to what I want then I'd be willing to spend the time hoping that my suggested tweaks and input would be useful. But, they're not aiming the game at me (or they're REALLY missing the target) so my comments aren't of any real value to WOTC. Presumably, they already know that people who think Pathfinder Sorcerors and Wizards are sort of kind of balanced are going to look at that sorceror and think "Holy Crap. How could they put out something as insanely unbalanced as this is?"

The sorceror is far from insanely unbalanced. The wizard outshines it in spell variety, spell attack bonus, and has access to higher level of spells. The fighter has a higher dpr, more flexible attacks, way higher chance to hit, more hitpoints, less mad and doesn't need a free hand for spells. Rogue's do more damage and skill mastery and rogue scheme makes his just awesome. The Sorceror's better then the cleric, but most teams will prefer a Cleric anyways for the healing. Cleric needs to be fixed after it got nerfed, not DS fault.

Sorceror seems really impressive untill you take the time to messure it up against other classes.

That why you play test and take the time to compare it to other classes.

I'll reiterate one point and then shut up.

I'm NOT playtesting in a vacuum. I'm not coming to DnD cold. I've got lots and lots of experience. I can actually read rules and, often, get a very good feel for how they'll play without actually playtesting.

I know that, personally, I believe that the Pathfinder Sorceror is approximately balanced with the Pathfinder Wizard in power (and "approximately balanced" is about as fine as I slice the balance cake). I really, really, really don't need to playtest to see that the balance in DndNext has shifted very dramatically toward the Sorceror when compared to Pathfinder.

So, IF you believe that the Pathfinder versions are approximately balanced then very clearly the DndNext versions are not.

People routinely have very different opinions on what is balanced with what. Maybe lots of people think the sorceror and wizard are balanced. That is fine.

I would like to playtest, but I haven't been able to find groups at any of my usual hangouts (I only found one, and it was already full, plus they actually had people rolling for HP and stats and that's when I decide not to play). And, unfortunately, unlike the previous edition, I have no interest in DMing this. I'd kind of like to play it to give it a test run, though.

Well, I was going to post my playtest here, but there are 2 pages of people moaning about why they are not going to playtest, so this thread is spoiled.

I didn't mean to help hijack this thread. It honestly seemed like a good place to discuss why people didn't seem to be playtesting the new rules. Which really DOES seem to be a significant difference between this release of the rules and the previous one.

At any rate, I apologize for my part in hijacking the thread.

But I admit that I fail to see why you couldn't create a new thread with your playtest post. [Sarcasm]Or join all those other threads with their playtest posts [/sarcasm]
