[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

The pixie's eyes seemed to clear after Shandra's blade slaps it hard across the head, but far from knocking sense into the tiny creature it seems to panic. Instinctively it lashes out at Shandra, piercing her body with a shaft of channelled air and almost throwing her from the pier. To save herself from the water she once again throws herself to the ground only to find that one of the waterspouts has turned to protect their master, nailing her with a brutal slam attack while she lies prone.

Wat's thunderous display of underwater power has left the other waterspouts in momentary disarray. One of the spouts merely regathers itself after being smashed apart by the sonic explosion, the other totters towards the raft once more like a spinning top out of control. Unfortunately the now unmanned raft drifts close enough that one of the spouts manages to reach the edge and bring the full weight of its force down upon the back of Sabynha's head, leaving her reeling.

With the water around him no longer being churned up the waterspout, Wat is bettr able to pull himself over to the raft.
Looking around he realizes he has a prime vantage point on the water.

Seeing Sabynha in danger, Wat sends a bolt of lightning towards the waterspout near her and seeing the newcomer in trouble decides to help her by trying to put the badly wounded pixie's lights out.

The first bolt connects and momentarily jolts the waterspout.
The second does indeed turn out the lights of the panicked pixie who falls unconscious into the water after being hit right between the eyes by the bolt.

Move: Athletics (1d20-1=17).
K2(-2) -> J3(-1) -> J3(0) -> I4.

As Wat's lightning stunned the pixie, Shandra grabbed at it and dropped it on the jetty before it drowned.

Grimacing, she then painfully rose to her feet and put herself in to a defensive stance.

Zuri moves accross the raft to Sabynha's side and attacks the waterspout menacing her friend.

She apparently catches it by surprise with her attack, both disrupting it and scattering it accross the surface of the river.

She look at Sabynha, "Sabynha, go over to where I was, if you can."

Content to see that Wat had sorted himself out for now, Rain threw her Farbond Spellblade at the, "...discombobulated" waterspout nearby them. This time, her longsword passed through her target cleanly, throwing it into further disorder. The blade drew another graceful arc in the air as it flew back to her ready hand.

Snatching it up, Rain then swam briskly back towards the shore. Shandra's plight hadn't gone unnoticed. As soon as the other waterspout threatening Shandra was in range, Rain drew her Aegis of Shielding over it.

GM: I think I'll call the combat there. The module says the water spouts fight til the death, but I think it makes more sense that they are linked to the pixie. Pixie down = Waterspouts down in my book. I was tempted to let Sabynha have a chance to do something before pulling it, but at a distance she would have to lose a dagger ... so:

COMBAT OVER! Congrats!

We should have a discussion about what exactly to do about CFW and Shandra in the OOC Thread. I think I prefer that if we are going to carry on with 3 players then two different players should NPC the 'extra' PCs rather than 1 person run 3 characters.

Other option: Fade Shandra out until if/when CFW reappears; level you up to the level you should be at after XP calculations and you tough out the rest of the module with 4 PCs.

I am open to other suggestions, so drop in a comment over in the OOC thread!


As the bolt of electricity knocks the pixie out and he drops into Shandra's waiting hands, the water spouts seem to lose power. Zuri finds it a simple matter to destroy the one closest the raft, and when Rain's blade passes through another it seems to sever the weakened connection of power to their summoner. Losing their solidity they melt back into the water and the lake grows still once more.
 

Wat sat on the raft trying to dry out while catching his breath.

"Not sure how much longer I can keep going. We need to make sure Prophiero is safe."

Rain pulls herself out of the water onto the jetty and looks over at Shandra; she calls accross the lake, "Ahoy Sabynha dear, how about a song? I think Shandra could do with the help." She then realised that the pixie was still alive.

"Shandra, that flight over here was pretty amazing and I'm very glad you didn't try to kill this one."

For the moment, Rain draws her Aegis of Shielding over the pixie as precaution and then sits down on the jetty to rest with her feet trailing in the water and with the pixie in her lap.

"Well hopefully, this one won't be a slave any longer. So, that was Kalbon. Hmm, I wonder..."

Shandra nods wordlessly, very glad for a chance to recover from the wounds on her during the fight.

Aboard the raft, Zuri stows her weapons and jumps in to the water to fetch the pole. An able swimer, she brings it back to the surface and then teleports back aboard the erratically drifting raft. She then punts back accross to the jetty for Rain and Shandra to get back aboard, before handing the pole back to Shandra.

"My turn for a breather," she says. "What are we going to do with him?" she gestures towards the blue robed pixie.

Zuri is also a half decent swimmer at Athletics +8, so she'll fetch the pole, move the raft back to the jetty for Rain and Shandra, then she'll have a breather herself. Zuri uses 1 Healing Surge, leaving her with 4 remaining.

Rain uses 1 Healing Surge, leaving her with 3 remaining. She'll be on full hits (if as was before, she'd then also be + 4 THP's with the Song of Rest, but I've put her at +5 THP's as per jbear's last instruction).

Hi, jbear, can Rain have a go at some sort of skill check to have a guess the nature of the apparition that was Kalbon? I'll roll a d20, but not add any skill bonus; I'll leave that to you to add - Die roll = 11.

Sabynha removes her boots and sits down at the edge of the raft while Zuri poles it back to shore. She begins humming an old vistani sea chantey by Rain's request, and lays down to enjoy the moment's respite, and some sun.

OOC: Sabynha spends one surge, with Song of Rest, putting her to 30/33 +5thp and one healing surge left.
 

The pixie begins to stir. He moans as though he had at last become aware of his pain. His eyes flutter open, his body trembling, but too weak to flee, he covers his head in fear and stutters: "Please, don´t hurt me anymore."
