How many arrows can an expert archer fire in a round?

Well let's see. A round is 6 seconds, right? So that's...12 arrows a round?

As many arrows as deal a d6 or d8's worth of damage per d20 allowed.

i don't think melee attacks should represent multiple swings, while ranged attacks = one missile

and who wants to count off arrows anyway? I assume archer types are keeping their quivers full

More to the point, this kind of shooting is nothing like shooting in the types of small battles that come up often in D&D, where aiming is more important than rapid shots.

The ability to fire shots really rapidly, without aiming (or aiming at very close targets) is only useful on a gigantic battlefield.

What are those teeny little bags that boxers hit at about 3-4 times a second? I don't think we're suggesting that fighters get 18-24 attacks per round, are we?
 


More to the point, this kind of shooting is nothing like shooting in the types of small battles that come up often in D&D, where aiming is more important than rapid shots.

The ability to fire shots really rapidly, without aiming (or aiming at very close targets) is only useful on a gigantic battlefield.

He aims. He aims quite well. He hits multiple moving small targets. He explains using the technique improved his aim, and they also explain it seems to be the method ancients used for archery in battle.

Most of his skills translate directly to combat. They demonstrate improved accuracy, and improved ability to fire while moving, and against moving targets. And they explain it appears to be based on a prior combat technique.

I don't get your point. He's firing actual arrows, with enough force to kill someone with each shot, at different targets, while moving, while the targets are moving. They explain it's based on what appears to have been standardized soldier training in ancient times.

I am not really suggesting archers should get 12 arrows in a round. I am just saying it's noteworthy to discover it can be done, accurately, with killing speed, in combat-like situations. So that when some day we have discussions about high level archers getting too many shots to be "realistic", we can recall this guy and how it can be a reality.

Are people just not watching the video?

My point was that a game with that many attacks per round doesn't sound like a great idea to me, whatever method of attack it is. Lots of watching someone roll dice for 20 minutes.

Rather than attacks per round, that sort of thing is best abstracted a little to use area of attack rules, I think.
