What's next after Zombies?

First it was Vampires. Then Vampires & werewolves. Now it's zombies.

What will be the next movie/TV monster phenomenon? Skeletons? Fey? Flumpfs?

Now we seem to be getting Dystopian futures. Like zombies and Vampires before it was a big book craze and then found its way to movies.

Aliens. Superman is back, Independence Day 2 is coming, Scarjo is a sex crazed alien in Under the Skin, Jupiter Ascending by the Wachowskis as lots of aliens.

Aliens have more flavors than zombies, maybe this is why it is less obvious?

Still more superheroes, I expect.

Really surprised we have not seen steampunk movies, things like steampunk zombies, steampunk batman or steampunk spiderman.

It should be piggies. Piggies are intelligent and ferocious.

And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

The near trend in YA seems to be dystopias, with female protagonists.

Angels are seeing a bit of a comeback in fiction.

In the longer term... I predict sexy bigfoot will become a thing. That, or sexy creature from the black lagoon. All the sparkle of glistening scales will give the vampires a run for their money.

Don't forget that witches made a comeback with American Horror Story: Coven and Witches of East End. The latter reminded me of Charmed. Salem set during the witch trails is coming to WGN this year.
