On a serious note, it may be interesting if done right. Judging from the reactions that the new Star Trek movies have caused, I'm not sure if people will like this remake.

Awful idea. As with "Highlander", a "Flash Gordon" movie without a Queen soundtrack is a non-starter, and Queen are nothing without Freddie.

Dude, Flash Gordon existed before Queen. Flash Gordon existed a decade and more before any of the members of Queen were even born. Queen is by no means required.

And Star Trek existed before Chekov was introduced, but I'll bet that at no point did they consider doing the reboot without the character. Sometimes something comes along that becomes indispensible from that point onwards.

But, yes, if we're being serious for the moment, then of course you're right - a soundtrack by Queen is not essential. And with everything else being rebooted, rehashed, or otherwise revisited, it was only a matter of time before "Flash Gordon" got the treatment. In truth, the reason it will almost certainly suck is very little to do with the absence (or presence) of a soundtrack by Queen.

It will almost certainly stink because:
1) The source material is kinda cheesy
2) 90% of everything is crud.

Why don't you have Queen? They've got records of Queen singing. Just remake the thing top to bottom with new fancy graphics and actors and use the old soundtrack. I'd go see it!
