Tomb of the Lizard King - your experiences?

Eep!

I really like that the module starts with the bad guy scrying the PCs. The Lizard King is a smart and proactive foe. Like many 1e modules it does have some odd things in that I will ignore but it also seems to have a lot of treasure. I was surprised to see a sword +4 defender and just a lot of magical items in general even before they get to the meat of the module.

Well, they may well need to survive... :)

Cheers!

Yeah, and despite the quicktime event cut scene, I still think this module has one of the best openings of adventures I've experienced. It definitely gets the PCs interested quickly!

They got through the dragon and to the huge ambush of Lizard folk at the bottom of the stairs. They retreated back to the stairs and did a good job of fighting them off. They made some good use of area effect items they had. Now for next week I want to emphasis the creepiness of the rest of the temple and really make it memorable.

This module cause a buddy of mine to ragestomp and quit for a bit when I ran it in 3E. The party was fighting the black dragon and the guy was playing a rogue. He had run in close to attack it then told the wizards to go ahead and drop fireballs on it.

Everything would be OK. He was a rogue and had evasion..............

Two badly failed saves later and that rogue was doing an uncle Owen impression post stormtrooper attack in episode IV.

It was awesome. :D

I love moments like that, when a pc takes an arrogant risk and assumes his abilities will let him survive... and then he dies.
