D&D 5E Resistance and temp. hit points

Hi folks,
Let's say I have resistance to fire and 5 temp. hit points. Say I take 20 points of fire damage. How many "real" hit points of damage do I take?

Resistance spells out that things which reduce damage happen before the resistance. But I'm unclear if temp hit points count as "reducing".

Thanks

I say "5".

Resistance makes 20=10. Then 5 temps are burned away.

Temp hit points don't reduce damage, they just give a buffer against damage received.

Thaumaturge.
