It's perhaps more accurate to say this is Paizo's take on psychic and occult themes within the context of the game rules. We aren't using the term "psionics" for a number of reasons, but the most important one is that we don't want people to have to learn an entirely new system of rules just to be able to have psychic phenomena in their campaigns.

We will never to a straight-up "psionics" ruleset. This is our approach to similar themes.

There's more than enough differentiation that it doesn't render Dreamscarred Press's rendition of psionics anything close to irrelevant, which is a good thing.

Let me say this about Pathfinder, its cool and I play in a game from time to time and I love the art style it has. I also love the APs.

Now to MHO, this is what has sort of pushed me from PF. All the character options and feat choices are a bit over whelming. Its beginning to be a bit much. I still like to check the new stuff out however but its just too fiddly. I know its optional and I don't have to use anything other than whats in the core rule book. Again I like PF and what they have done but I just don't feel like its for me anymore. Pipe dream but I wish they would produce APs for 5e since im too lazy to convert them over haha. Anyway looks cool.

Honestly, the playtest isn't really grabbing me at all. That's a first for Paizo's playtests, I think. Nothing just really... grabs from it and says "Oh man, I need to try this out". Some of the ideas are neat - I like the flexibility of the Medium, and the tricks of the Mesmerist, but... I dunno. I think they might have finally hit the "maybe this is too much" point for me, as far as classes go. I hope next year's big class book doesn't actually have any new classes in it, and instead diversifies the existing ones with an entire book of archetypes. I dunno, we'll see. I won't say I'm not impressed, I'm just not excited like I usually am.

So... the Kineticist seems to basically be the Pathfinder Warlock I've been waiting for for just about forever, so that's nice. Haven't looked at the other stuff yet, but that alone is worth a new book. I love at-will blasters.

The kineticist looks more like a bender from Avatar IMO....

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.
