D&D 5E SCROLLS Questions

My DM also carries over the rule from previous editions that scrolls are either arcane or divine, and if you only know arcane spellcasting, then you can't use a divine scroll, and vice versa. Thus, our party carries both a divine scroll of Lesser Restoration, and an arcane scroll of Lesser Restoration. If the cleric gets paralyzed by poison, the bard can use the arcane scroll on the cleric. Or vice versa. If they *both* get paralyzed by poison, we're in trouble.

Any hints on what the 5E DMG will say about arcane and divine magic?

I liked the "miswritten rule" much better. Maybe will allow anyone trained in arcana to attempt to use a scroll in games I DM. Not sure yet, though.

It specifically notes "on your class's spell list" ... so, no distinction between arcane and divine... distinction by "is it a spell you could theoretically cast eventually"...

So, a light spell on a scroll is a light spell... and a Light domain cleric can cast it, as can a wizard. And a Paladin of Light. and... but only the wizard can copy it into his spellbook.

Not sure I like the "roll to copy" rule. Wizards don't seem to get much for the expense and inconvenience of having to use a spellbook (over, say, being a cleric and automatically knowing their entire spell list...), and that DC gives them a fair chance to waste the few chances at new spells they might get.
